SCIENCE 7 Quarter 4 Activity 2

LAYERS OF THE ATMOSPHERE

Everything in Earth's system can be placed into one of four major subsystems: land, water, living
things, or air. These four subsystems are called "spheres." Specifically, they are the"lithosphere"
(land), "hydrosphere" (water), "biosphere" (living things), and "atmosphere" (air).

The Atmosphere is one of the four spheres of

Earth and is comprises different gases that cover the
planet like a blanket.
The Earth’s atmosphere has five main layers. From
the lower layer to the higher layers, they are: the
troposphere, stratosphere, mesosphere,
thermosphere, and exosphere.

To better understand this lesson, please watch this 3-

minute video of these layers and jot down notes in your science notebook.

And if you want to have your checkpoint, you answer these 13 items multiple choice questions:

For today’s activity on a short or A4 bond paper, preferably a scrap

paper, in portrait orientation.

Draw the 5 layers of the atmosphere, and include by drawing or writing

the important phenomena or events occurring in each layer.

Example: (This is in troposphere only)
