Atmosphere
-It is the layer of gases surrounding the
planet earth.
-Protects life on earth by
absorbing ultraviolet solar
radiation.
Layers of the
Atmosphere
TROPOSPHERE
It is the layer closest to the ground.
16 TO 18 km
Winds, clouds, water vapor are
found. Weather phenomena also
occur.
The air grows colder as one goes
up higher, as when climbing high
elevations.
STRATOSPHERE
Second layer of the atmosphere
16 to 50 km above earth’s
surface.
Balloons and airplane are
found in this layer.
Ozone layer
MESOSPHERE
The third layer of the atmosphere.
Extends 50 to 80 km
Temperature in this layer decreases
with height.
Meteorites are seen in this layer.
THERMOSPHERE
The fourth layer of the atmosphere
Hottest layer
80 to 640 km above the earth’s
surface.
Aurora borealis is seen here
EXOSPHERE
Last layer of the atmosphere.
Outermost layer
It goes from about 640 to 1,280
km.
Satellites are stationed here.
TROUBLED- Troposphere
SUPER- Stratosphere
MAN- Mesosphere
TRICKED- Thermosphere
ELLEN- Exosphere
Can you imagine the
world without
atmosphere?
There would be no life on
Earth. Nothing will protect
us from the intense light
and harmful radiation.
What are the things that
you could do in order to
protect our
atmosphere?
-Plant trees
-Practice the 3R’s
-Do not burn garbage and lessen the use
of products that contain
chlorofluorocarbons such as perfumes,
air conditioners and even plastics that
may harm the ozone.
Government constructed a Republic
act No. 8749, otherwise known as The
Philippines Clean Air Act that
includes management and program
and the goal is to achieve and
maintain healthy air for us Filipino
