British Council support for displaced Sudanese students - Cambridge Exams in May/June
2024

The British Council is again working with Cambridge, partner schools, and families, to assist
students displaced from Sudan who wish to sit Cambridge qualifications in the June 2024
examination series.

We are committed to supporting you during this very difficult time, and we’ll continue to keep you
updated regarding important information about how to find an examination venue.

For the May/June 2024 series, Cambridge will not charge their portion of the examination entry fee
for all displaced students from Sudan.

Eligible students will still need to pay the full entry fee to their school, and then after the session
the British Council will refund the Cambridge portion to schools to give back to the students. The
British Council is not permitted to refund students in Egypt directly.

Cambridge has recently communicated that in order to confirm the candidates’ eligibility; every
candidate will need to submit digital copies of one or more of the following supporting documents:

• Statement of entry from a Cambridge centre in Sudan for June 2023 (if available).
• Sudanese identification, such as an identity card, passport or driving licence.
• Proof of residence in Sudan prior to the war breaking out.
• A current address or proof of living away from their home in Sudan.
• If available, proof of receipt of financial assistance from the national government where they are
currently residing.
• If available, a UN or national government document denoting refugee status.

Attached is the spreadsheet that we will submit to Cambridge on your behalf to identify the eligible
candidates. Please use the dropdown box in the spreadsheet to specify the type of supporting
document listed above.

We have agreed with Cambridge HQ that we will forward the spreadsheet in April.

Schools should now begin collecting the required supporting documents from parents. However,
please do not forward the spreadsheet or any supporting documents to the British Council until we
request them.
