Alessandro Zir – C.V.

PhD by Dalhousie University (2009), Alessandro Zir works mainly in the areas of Philosophy, Literary &
Cultural Studies. He studied also Music (piano performance) and engaged with visual arts (drawing and
photography). As a translator he has published several works (more than 15) in Brazil, including Petronius’
Satyricon and Baudelaire’s Le Spleen de Paris.
As an author, he has works published in Brazil, Canada, Chile, England, Germany, Poland, Portugal, and
the United States, including a book (Luso-Brazilian Encounters of the Sixteenth-Century, Fairleigh
Dickinson University Press, 2011), book chapters, and papers in reference journals such as The Marburg
Journal of Religion, Republics of Letters (Stanford University), and Portuguese Literary and Cultural Studies
