FORM 2.4: RESPONDENT’S INFORMATION SHEET AND INFORMED CONSENT FORM

Please read the following information carefully and do not hesitate to discuss any questions you may
have with the researcher.

1. STUDY TITLE :

THE ROLE OF TIKTOK IN ENGLISH LANGUAGE LEARNING AMONG HUMAN RESOURCE


DEVELOPMENT UNDERGRADUATES IN UNIVERSITI PUTRA MALAYSIA

2. INTRODUCTION:

TikTok has revolutionized language learning, particularly among HRD undergraduates at


Universiti Putra Malaysia. Its short-form video format and interactive community of language learners
provide an effective and fun way to acquire and improve English language skills. Studies have shown that
TikTok allows learners to practice speaking, interact with native speakers, and learn new vocabulary and
pronunciation. As social media continues to influence language learning, TikTok is expected to play an
increasingly significant role in the future.

The study focuses on undergraduate students enrolled in Universiti Putra Malaysia's Bachelor of
Human Resource and Development with Honours programme. Students of all ages, genders, ethnicities,
and English language skill levels make up the population. The survey will be carried on in the six-month
time-span of semester 7. There are total of 60 respondents in this research. The participation of this
research is completely voluntary, and participant can decide to not participate at any time.

3. WHAT WILL YOU HAVE TO DO?

If you agree to become one of the respondents, you will be given a set of questionnaires where it
will brief you a little bit about the information, purpose and aims of the research. There will be 44
questions in the questionnaire, which will be divided into 5 sections. Section A: Students’ Background,
Section B: Students’ Attitude Towards Learning English, Section C: The Role Of TikTok in Language
Learning Among HRD Undergraduates, Section D: Psychosocial Factors Towards TikTok for Language
Learning and Acquisition and Section E: Ways To Improve Usage of TikTok for Language Learning.
These components and sections will measure the demanded data to know the role of TikTok in English
language learning. The time required to answer the questionnaire is about 10 minutes.

4. WHO SHOULD NOT PARTICIPATE IN THE STUDY?

People and students who are not from the Faculty of Educational Studies and not taking the

programme Bachelor’s Degree Human Resource and Development with Honours at Universiti Putra
Malaysia.

5. WHAT WILL BE THE BENEFITS OF THE STUDY:

(a) TO YOU AS THE SUBJECT?

There will be no direct benefit of the study to the subject and respondent.

(b) TO THE INVESTIGATOR?

The benefits of the study to the investigator are it will help to answer the research questions,
achieve the research objectives and will help the investigator to come up with logical and
suitable suggestion about the issue revolving the research topic.

6. WHAT ARE THE POSSIBLE RISKS?

There is no risk of this study.

7. WILL THE INFORMATION THAT YOU PROVIDE AND YOUR IDENTITY REMAIN CONFIDENTIAL?

Yes.
