My Hypothesis
My hypothesis is that the bread which has the most moisture and most humidity will
grow the most mold within the shortest amount of time.

Materials -
1. Bread (Whole wheat bread)
2. Water
3. Zip lock cover
4. Measuring cup
5. Marker
Variables

Independent Time taken for Amount of water Temperature Environment

Variables mold to grow used

Controlled Type of Bread Thickness of the Amount of times

Variables bread water is sprinkled
on the bread
What I did
I had used three whole wheat breads and put them into three different ziplock
bag/cover. On Bread A I had sprinkled 3 ml of water and kept the ziplock cover
exposed to the sun’s light on my window, on bread B I had sprinkled 6 ml of water
and kept the ziplock cover away from the sun’s light on top of a shelf and on Bread C
I had sprinkled 9 ml of water and kept the ziplock cover in a closed cabinet. I had
sprinkled water on the breads two times a day(7:00 am and 8:30pm).
Results of the experiment
DAY 3- There was no sign of mold on Bread A and B, but Bread C had some yellow
spots forming.

DAY 6- Bread A did not yet have any mold, but Bread B and C had small yellow
mold patches.

DAY 9- Mold had grown in all three breads.

Conclusion
Yes,my hypothesis was correct. I have observed that the breads with the most
moisture and humidity were able to grow mold at a faster rate than the breads with
less moisture and humidity. This is because humidity and moisture provide oxygen
which molds can use to grow and spread.
