5. Do not use short forms like BU, Mon, Isb. Always use full forms.
6. Always TYPE an application for sending.
7. Complete details should be provided.
8. Format must be complete.
Formal letter/ Application

What is Block Format?

In block format, everything including your contact information, the date, the employer’s contact information, the
body of the letter, and the greeting and closing, is all left-justified. It gives a clean and professional look to your
letter.

In block format, the letter is single-spaced, with the exception of a space between each paragraph (as well as a
space above and below the date, and above and below the salutation and signature).

First Paragraph: Why You Are Writing. Remember to include the name of a mutual contact, if you know someone at
the organization. Mention the job you are interested in and where you heard about the position. State that you think
you’re an ideal candidate for the job. Be clear and concise.

Middle Paragraphs: What You Have to Offer. Convince the reader that he or she should grant the interview or
appointment you requested in the first paragraph. Make connections between your abilities and their organization’s
needs. Use specific examples from past work experiences to prove your skills and qualifications.

Final Paragraph: How You Will Follow Up. It is your responsibility to follow up if feasible. State that you will do so
and provide the professional courtesy of indicating when (one week's time is typical).

Subject: Request for starting awareness session on Self-Esteem

Dear/Respected Sir,

Respectfully, it is stated that I would like I and my class BS-Geo 2A, Spring 20’ session would like to
deliver an awareness session on “Self Esteem”, in all classes of Bahria University.

Owing to certain events, it is pertinent that students should be at peace, while pursuing their
academia. While conducting an informal survey, we have felt that students are not happy and are
uneasy, with a lot of things. This all happens, when someone them self is not at peace, and for that,
it’s important to make them aware of their self-esteem.

We have tentatively, designed a schedule, which we will follow, with discussion and your
permission.

We are a team of 10 students. We plan on starting sessions from first week of April, and we will
cover 10 classes every day. In this way, we will be able to complete this awareness session in a
month. In every class, 2 students will go and deliver a presenter, which will be presented to you for
consent and discussion. We shall also ask students to fill a quick form for feedback to improve our
services.

Sir, this session will be helpful in making students aware of their self-worth and will help them
perform better in their academia.
