Homework #6 – Dependent Sample T-test

Dataset: WISE.Employee.say

Mean of Pretest data = 2.65

Standard deviation of Pretest data = 1.496
Mean of Posttest data = 5.75
Standard deviation of Posttest data = 0.967
Degrees of freedom = n – 1
= 20 – 1
= 19
Obtained value(t) = -7.566
P value = 0.000
Null hypothesis (Ho): There is no change in employee job satisfaction.
Alterative hypothesis (Ha): There is a change in employee job satisfaction.
Level of significance(α) = 0.05
Since the p value is less than the level of significance
0.000 < 0.05
We reject the null hypothesis
Therefore, there is a change in employee job satisfaction after the company effected the changes.

Dataset: Depression.Drug.say

Mean of Predrug data = 6.75

Standard deviation of Predrug data = 1.803
Mean of Postdrug data = 5.70
Standard deviation of Postdrug data = 2.557
Degrees of freedom = n – 1
= 20 – 1
= 19
Obtained value(t) = 2.304
P value = 0.033
Null hypothesis (Ho): There is no change in depression scores after taking the drug.
Alterative hypothesis (Ha): There is a reduction in depression scores after taking the drug.
Level of significance(α) = 0.05
Since the p value is less than the level of significance
0.033 < 0.05
We reject the null hypothesis
Therefore, there is a reduction in depression scores after taking the drug.
