Skittles Project III

1.

Graph of data from skittles project from 48 samples

2. I think that the shape is bell shaped. Most of it's data is in the center and tapers off to the
sides. There are 2 outliers, but 1 is on each side of the central data.
Mean=57.5557 SD=3.4721

3. Upper Fence:66 Lower Fence:50 Outlier include: 49 and 72

60+1.5(4)= 56-1.5(4)=
60+6=66 56-6=50

4. First: This is a random sample. There was no collaboration between the 48 students as to
where we retrieved the bags.
Second: 48 bags of skittles is likely smaller than 5 percent of the population of skittle
2.17oz bags. This gives it independence.
Third: The population is greater than 30. 48>30 so the population is normal.
5. Confidence level with 95% confidence.

We are 95% confident that the interval between 56.6478 and 58.6855 contains the true
mean of number of skittles that are found in all 2.17oz bags of skittles.

6. H0: μ=62
HA: μ≠62

We have sufficient evidence to conclude that the mean number of skittles does not equal
62 in a a 2.17oz bag of skittles.
