A. Industrial revolutions happened during the late 1700s and early 1800s in Britain, resulting in
major industrialization. It is characterized by the shift from agrarian, handcraft economies to
industrialized, machine-based economies. In the 18th century, Britain pioneered this process,
which spread throughout the world.

B. Examples of life in countries that have not industrialized include:

 Subsistence farming: Subsistence farming is the practice of producing enough food for
one's family in most non-industrialized countries.
 Lack of access to modern healthcare: It is difficult to provide modern healthcare in many
non-industrialized countries because of a lack of infrastructure and resources.
 Limited access to education: Especially in rural areas, education can be limited in many
non-industrialized nations.

C. To have an industrial revolution, the following things must be in place:

 Having access to natural resources


 Political stability
 Economic strength
 Innovation in technology
 Infrastructure:

D. Below are examples of each of the five things needed for an industrial revolution:

 Having access to natural resources: coal, iron, and timber.


 Political stability: a government that supports industrialization, laws that protect
businesses, and a stable political climate.
 Economic strength: a strong currency, a healthy job market, and a high GDP.
 Innovation in technology: the steam engine, the spinning jenny, and the power loom.
 Infrastructure: roads, bridges, and ports.

E. An infrastructure is a basic structure or facility that enables a society or enterprise to function.


A road system, a bridge system, a water supply, a sewer system, an electrical grid, and a
telecommunication system fall under this category.

F. The continued technological advancements and automation in manufacturing, the continued


growth of industrial sectors in emerging economies, and the increasing global interconnectedness
and trade are evidence that industrialization continues.

2. It is important to continue advocating for fair wages and working conditions for workers
who are not enjoying the benefits of industrialization. The industrialized economy also
requires new skills that are in demand. As part of their responsibility, governments and
companies must ensure that the benefits of industrialization are shared more equitably
and that displaced workers are given the support they need to transition to new careers.
