CHAPTER 1

INTRODUCTION

I. Background of the Study

Nowadays, investors are far more interested in real estate investments. It is clearly seen
how neighborhood (subdivision areas) expands in urban areas and in some rural areas.

As urbanization keeps growing, need for domestic helpers (kasambahay) tends to increase.
However, some households find it costly and expensive. Some cannot even afford to recruit one,
because their financial capability is enough to sustain their necessities.

In Hinigaran, Negros Occidental, there is no preexisting company that offers home services.
Therefore, this market opportunity is worth grabbing.

The name of the proposed business is On-Call Kasambahay, located at Rizal Street,
Barangay III-Poblacion, along the national road in front of Mang Inasal, Hinigaran Negros
Occidental.

On-call Kasambahay offers various household services, particularly laundry duties, repairing,
house cleaning and other house chores. Moreover, the company provides aid with grocery
shopping and vehicular assistance (if home delivery).

This business requires less capital to put up, in order to capitalize the growing demand for
household services. Since On-Call Kasambahay has no preexisting competitors, the success of
the business is in sight. One way to get there, is to make a move.

I. Scope and Limitation

The general objective of this study is to determine the feasibility of the proposed business
On-Call Kasambahay. This study takes consideration the following variables: sex, age, nature of
work and income range. The researcher will use a questionnaire to conduct the study to optimize
the allotted time. The target market of our proposed business will also be the respondents of this
study, specifically those who reside in subdivision areas Hinigaran, Negros Occidental.
II. Significance of the Study

The result of this study is beneficial to the following individual or sector:

CUSTOMERS. The result of this study will not only make them informed about the services that
the company offers, but also make them recognized the value of savings and wise spending.

ENTREPRENEURS. The outcome of this study will make them realized how essential
feasibility study is, before conducting a business.

FUTURE RESEARCHERS. The result of this study can be used as their reference to provide
backbone to their studies, which have similarities to ours.

III. Operational Definition of Terms

HOUSEHOLDS. This term will be used as the respondents of this study, as they are the target
market of the proposed business.

FEASIBILITY. This term will be served as the purpose of this study, by determining the
profitability of the proposed business.

INCOME. This term will be used as the basis for pricing strategy in this study, to ensure the
willingness of the customers to accept the services that the proposed business offers.

Research Methodology

Research Design

A quantitative-descriptive research design will be utilized in this study. According to


Defne Çobanoğlu (2023), descriptive research is a type of research where researchers try to
describe the characteristics of the problem, phenomenon, or subject. Moreover, it is a popular
market research tool that allows to collect and describe the nature of the demographic segment
(Manjunatha, 2019).

Research Locale

This study will be conducted at some local subdivisions in Hinigaran, Negros Occidental,
particularly Pueblo San Roque (1) and Fontana Woods Subdivision (2) Barangay Gargato, Villa
Angela Subdivision (3) Barangay Pilar, Carmenville (4) and Sto. Rosario Subdivision (5)
Barangay III-Poblacion.
Respondents of the Study

The respondents of this study are the homeowners residing in the local subdivision of
Hinigaran, Negros Occidental. Based on estimate, the total number of household is 127 and will
be served as the population of this study. Using RaoSoft Calculator, the sample population is 96,
with 95% confidence level and 5% margin error.

Sample Techniques

RaoSoft Calculator will be used in this study to get the sample size of the population. The
respondents will be selected using a stratified random sampling, wherein the population is
divided into sub-groups (strata) based on shared attributes. Consequently, random samples are
get from each stratum. The purpose of this technique is to give each participant an equal chance
to be selected as a respondent of this study.
Research Instrument

This study will utilize a structured questionnaire formulated by the researchers. This self-
formulated questionnaire will help researchers to optimize the timeframe of the study. Moreover,
it will help them to collect the data to determine the feasibility of the proposed business as to its
extent.

The research will prepare a 5-point Likert scale for frequency, a type of psychometric
response scale which is used to understand how often users perform a certain action: (5) Daily (4)
Biweekly (3) Weekly (2) Monthly (1) Bimonthly. The researcher will use this scale to determine
how often homeowners perform household chores.

The first part of the research questionnaire will cover the demographic profile of the
respondents, including their sex, age, nature of work and income range. The second part of the
questionnaire will be composed of set of questions, where respondents will record their response
by marking a check, depending on how often they perform the certain action.
CHAPTER III

Company Mission

As the first household servicing company in Southern Negros, On-Call Kasambahay will
lead the industry by delivering best customer experience. In doing so, OCK will go beyond
customer expectations by providing exemplary services; competitive pricing; advanced
technology; and disposing highly-equipped individuals for the job.

Company Vision

On-Call Kasambahay's vision is to be a domestic leader in providing superior household


services.

Company Objective

On-Call Kasambahay's objective is to monopolize household servicing industry in Negros


region.

Type of Business Organization

On-Call Kasambahay will be operated and managed under partnership, specifically


general partnership, which is defined as a company with at least two persons and jointly manage
the business, and are severally liable for its debts. The business will be agreed by five members
namely: Reynaldo Cabuay, Ben Abad, Jastine Villasis, Kyle Marie Locsin and Justin Cuevas. All
partners are classified as capital and working partner.

Organizational Structure

The chart below depicts the company's organizational structure from the highest to the
lowest possible position. The general manager, who own On-Call Kasambahay, hold the highest
positions.

Manager  manage and oversee the overall operation of the
company
Communication in-charge  Responsible for dealing with customer concerns.
Hands-on Operators  In-charge with on-site visit and do dirty works
(household services).
Partners  Worked in a rotational basis, to be fair and in
order to expand their area of expertise.
Bookkeeper  Responsible for recording and maintaining a
business financial transaction, such as purchases,
expenses, sales, revenue, invoices, and payments.

Salary and Wages

On-Call Kasambahay will be operated and managed under partnership. Aside from being

A capital partner, all partners are also a working partner. Moreover, under Section 40(b) of
Income Tax Act, remuneration is only available to working partners. As stipulated in the
partnership deeds, each partner will receive sum of money of 18,000 per month (basic salary).
