PACIFIC OPERATIONS AI–OPS-PAC-001
MANUAL
FOREWORD Issue 1 Rev 0 15 AUG 2016
We commenced non-stop DEL-SFO-DEL services using one of
our long range aircraft. This sector has been flown over the North
Atlantic routes.
San Francisco (SFO) being on the West coast of USA, the
flying time is well beyond 16 hours from New Delhi. Average distance
between DEL-SFO flying over the North Atlantic is 7,700NM/14,400KM
(based on actual data of flights since 2nd Dec 2015). Average distance
ed
between DEL-SFO flying over the Pacific is up to 8,500 NM; however
due to strong tailwinds during Winter, the effective flight time
compared to NAT is shorter by up to 2 hours.
oll
Tail winds result into – lesser flying time, fuel savings,
increase payload and over flying costs are reduced as Oakland Centre
ntr
controls most of the pacific Airspace.
The purpose of this manual is to guide to provide a
ready reference and company’s recommended practices, however
co
Flight crew , Flight Dispatchers and all other users are also
requested to refer to parent document “FAA AC 91-70 : Oceanic
Operations, an Authoritative Guide to Oceanic Operations” for further
Un
details.
In case any discrepancy, contents of the parent document,
applicable AIPs/ NOTAMs shall prevail.
Please refer FCOM / FCTM for further guidance.
