Problem:

A train accelerates to a speed of 20m /s

over a distance of 150 m. Determine the
acceleration (assume uniform) of the train
Given Data:
Vi (initial velocity) = 0 m/s
Vf (final velocity) = 20 m/s
d (distance) = 150 m
a (acceleration) = unknown
Solution:
We can use the this formula in solving the
problem above Vf² = 2ad since Vi = 0 m/s
and to solve for acceleration, we can
use a = Vf²/2d
a = Vf²/2d
= (20 m/s)² / 2 × 150 m
= 400 m²/s² / 300 m
= 1.33 m/s²
Answer:
the acceleration of the train assuming
uniform acceleration is 1.33 m/s²
