How to Apply for Student Finance
Go to Student Finance England

Create an account (may take up to 10 minutes). When registering with Student Finance
England, make sure to use exactly what is stated on your passport or valid ID.

You can view the written steps below, fill in the sections, and submit your application.
(This guide does not cover all sections of the application, just the most important.)

Step 1: Select ‘Higher Education’

The next sections on the application are dependent on your personal circumstances.
Make sure to answer them as honestly as possible.

Step 5: Select the University by Typing in ‘University of
Wales Trinity Saint David’ or ‘Wales’

Step 6: Type in the Name of Your Course in the Following Format: ‘Certificate
of Higher Education Business Skills for the Workplace - Birmingham (January -
Full Time)’

Make sure to choose the exact course title.


Choosing the wrong course title will cause delays to your application.

If you are not sure about your course title, please see your offer letter on MyTSD.

Other Useful Student Finance Information


1. When registering with Student Finance England, make sure to use exactly what
is stated on your passport or valid ID. Failure to do so may cause delays in your
payments.
2. Successful applicants may be able to borrow money from Student Finance England
(SFE) to help pay for University tuition fees and living costs during studies.
3. Money received through SFE is a loan.
• Interest will be charged from the day it is taken and it must be repaid based
on SFE conditions.
• Student Finance England contact number: 0300 100 0607.
4. Student Finance England/Student Loan Company (SLC) is an independent
Government organisation that makes its own assessment of a student’s eligibility
for a loan and determines an amount of maintenance funds based on individual
circumstances.
• Processing may take around 6 weeks.
5. When the application is approved:
• The University will confirm a student’s enrolment.
• The University will confirm a student’s first week of attendance.
• SLC may take up to 2 weeks to process the first instalment.

You may be entitled to Student Finance Disabled Students’ Allowances (DSAs). DSAs is
additional support provided whilst studying at university dependant on your disability
requirements. You can apply for DSAs online through your Student Finance account.

Universal Credit
Please note, if you are in receipt of Universal Credit and you may want to know more
about the impact on your benefits when your Student finance gets approved. Please
contact the Department of work and Pension at your earliest time possible who will be
able to advise on your entitlement.
