EXERCISE – 1.2 :

“Make in India” is an Indian government program promoting local manufacturing,

innovation, and entrepreneurship. This program aims to strengthen the economy, generate
jobs, and attract investments. It focuses on key sectors like technology and renewable
energy while improving infrastructure and supporting small businesses. By nurturing
industries and encouraging industrial design and engineering, the initiative boosts product
development and manufacturing. It ensures meeting user/customer needs to succeed in
the market, attracting investments, and creating job opportunities for India's economic
growth and self-reliance. And “Startup India” has a different motive than this. As its name
suggests, it is mainly focused on supporting the startup ecosystem and encouraging
entrepreneurship. Its primary goal is to create a supporting environment for startups in
India and provides various benefits such as tax exemption, good networking, etc., And the
last one is “Skill India” which focuses on enhancing the skills and employability of the
country's workforce. Its primary goal is to provide training programs to balance the gap
between the demand and supply of skilled industries in various industries in India. And in all
of this, IIITDM also has been playing a major role in which it has its own program called
“MaDeIT” (Manufacturing and Design Excellence and Innovation) initiative to further
strengthen its contribution to the objectives of Make in India, Startup India, and Skill India.

EXERCISE – 1.3 :
The competencies I developed after my first year are :

 Programming Skills: I had learned programming languages like C and the basics to
learn any other language using any data structures, so my learning will become much
easier using similarities and differences.
 Engineering Graphics: I learned to create technical 2D designs and drawings using
computer-aided design (CAD) tools with the software “AUTOCAD”.

 Materials Science: I learned about the properties of materials, which to use for
which application, how to deal with defects, and the method for material selection
for an application.

 Electronics circuits: I had to get introduced to some basic electronic

components, circuits, motors, transformers, and their applications.

 Communication Skills: I learned how effective communication is essential for

engineers to convey ideas and problems, present solutions for them, and attract
attention in interviews with CVs and resumes.

 Calculus: I acquired a solid understanding of the fundamentals of calculus,

differential equations, partial derivatives, and their solving methods.

 Self-Learning: One thing I observed is, Self-learning is one of the most efficient
methods to learn anything. It also helped me a lot in my 2nd semester.

EXERCISE – 1.4 :

I am just like any normal 18-year-old boy going through life to become a man. I come from a
close-knit family, my parents are also very educated so I was taught the importance of
education and hard work. Being an Indian, my community is a diverse community so I was
also taught to respect different perspectives.
I get inspired mainly by “David Goggins” and other manly people and about how they get
through their life with determination, strength, and other abilities. Coming to what
frustrates what really frustrates me is when I find it difficult to grasp new concepts
effectively while learning. I have a strong desire to understand and excel in my studies, but
sometimes, I struggle to absorb information or make sense of complex subjects like mainly
Chemistry.
It really bothers me when I face challenges in my life but can't solve them just because of
someone’s lousy teaching and my inability to grasp it, and it also can be discouraging when
things don't come easily. Despite all of that, I draw strength from my faith in God, which
encourages me to persist and keep trying my best.
Even when I was just a kid, there were always only two options- an Engineer or a doctor just
like any Indian, my father wanted me to be a doctor but I didn’t like Biology with all the
remembering+drawing part, so I choose Engineering. Since childhood, I have been
captivated by the inner workings of automobiles. While many boys share this feeling, it has
remained a driving force in my life. Except for that I just went with the flow.
My self-reflection has taught me to appreciate the complexities of life and to approach
challenges with resilience and a sense of purpose.
