GUIDELINES FOR AUTHORS

Hasanuddin Internatioanal Conference on Social and Political Sciences (HICOSPOS) is the bi-
annual conference. The HICOSPOS 2024 will be hosted by the Faculty of Social and Political
Sciences. Hasanuddin University, Indonesia. The main theme of the conference is, “MEDIA,
POPULISM, AND SOCIETAL SHIFTS: UNRAVELING THE FABRIC OF POLITICAL DISCOURSE IN
INDONESIA”.

Scope of Conference:

1. The Influence of Media Framing and Political Narratives on Public Perception. Examine
how media organizations present political issues and narratives, analyzing the effects of
media framing on how the public perceives these issues and subsequently how it impacts
their political actions.
2. The Impact of Social Media on Political Polarization: A Global Perspective. Investigate the
influence of social media platforms on the exacerbation of political polarization on a global
scale, by studying the amplification of divisive political discussions through online echo
chambers and algorithmic biases.
3. The Emergence of Populist Movements: A Phenomenon Driven by the Media. Examine the
mutually beneficial connection between media coverage and the emergence of populist
movements, evaluating how media platforms can magnify populist messages and
contribute to their broad appeal.
4. Fact-Checking in the Digital Age: Assessing the Efficacy of Fact-Checking Initiatives in
Combating Misinformation Disseminated via Media Channels, with a Focus on the
Difficulties and Prospects of Promoting Precise Political Dialogue.
5. The Influence of Visual Media: The Role of photos and Videos in Political Communication
in the Digital Age. Examine the ways in which visual components, such as photos and
videos, shape political communication on digital platforms, and the resulting impact on
public perception and political participation.
6. The Influence of Online Activism and Digital Platforms on Political Participation. Examine
the impact of online activism and digital platforms on reshaping conventional paradigms
of civic involvement, analyzing how these emerging modes of participation affect political
environments.
7. Ethical Considerations in Political Reporting: Balancing Objectivity and Integrity. Analyze
the ethical dilemmas that arise in media coverage of political events, exploring the
difficulties journalists encounter in upholding impartiality and honesty when reporting on
politically delicate matters.

HICOSPOS 2024 Full Paper Guidelines


• The Authors should send full papers, according to the template we have attached on these
guidelines.
• Authors should follow all the instructions in the HICOSPOS 2024 Technical Requirements
for Full Paper Writing. Papers that do not follow the format will be rejected.
• All authors of submitted full papers should be aware of the danger of plagiarism. The
Editor will use plagiarism check application and all papers which are plagiarism detected
can be canceled to be published in the proceeding and will get fined. Proper citation and
acknowledgement of sources should be observed.
• Authors must revise their full papers according to the comments of their reviewer.
• Full papers that have not been revised will not be published in the Scopus indexed
proceedings (SCIENDO).

• Please use the template provided and save it in .doc/.docx
• Please use the IMRAD + CAR format (Introduction, Method, Result and Discussion +
Conclusion, Acknowledgement, and Reference).
• Don't write the academic title on the author's name
• Please write your E-Mail as correspondence author
• Please write the abstract no more than 300 Words and contained in a single paragraph.
• Reference only from journal, book, report and maximum 20 % from text book.
• No longer using literature review and theoretical framework.
• Result and Discussion, Minimum 60%.
• Please Follow Reference template Format (IEEE Style)
• Please use a primary reference material and avoid references from the mass media, blogs,
and Wikipedia.

Abstract. The abstract needs to summarize the content of the paper. The abstract should
contain at no more than 300 words. Font size should be set in 9-point and should be inset
1.0 cm from the right and left margins. A blank (20-points) line should be inserted before
and after the abstract.

Keywords: Please list your keywords in this section (min. 3 words and max. 5 words).

1 Introduction

This Word document can be used as a template for papers to be published in EAI Core
Proceedings. Follow the text for further instructions on text formating, tables, figures, citations
and references.

2 Research Method

The main text should be written using Times New Roman, 10pt, fully justified. Italics can
be used for emphasis and bold typeset should be avoided.

2.1 Headings, tables and figures

Headings. Please follow the formatting instructions for headings given in Table 1.

Tables. All included tables must be referred to in the main text and the table title and caption
are to be positioned above the table.The captions need to be written in Times New Roman,
9pt.

Figures. Figures need to be inserted separately as a .jpg or .png file and must be referred to in

Equations and formulas. All equations and formulas should be referred to in the text using
consecutive numbers in parentheses, see equation (1) for an example. Displayed equations or
formulas should be centered and set on a separate line with an extra space above and below.
They should be numbered for reference and the numbers should be consecutive, with numbers
enclosed in parentheses and set on the right margin.

Equations and formulas should be punctuated in the same way as ordinary text but with a
space before the punctuation mark.

assigned a number.

Full paper of HICOSPOS 2021 should be around 2.500 to 4.000 words include references.

2. Citations and references

Citations. For citations in the text use consecutive numbers in square brackets: [1], [2], [3],
etc.
If an author uses Mendeley application, please set “IEEE“ as reference style

References. All references must be in the same format as the ones at the end of this document
and the reference list must include all cited literature.

3. Footnotes and acknowledgements


Footnotes. Footnotes should be mentioned in the text.1 The superscript numeral used to refer
to a footnote appears in the text either after the word to be discussed or following the
punctuation mark.
