Washing of racks (daily)
The squeeze rollers are for removing processing solution evenly and maintain dry condi-
tions. If the rollers are left moist with processing solution, the rollers will expand and may
not perform their drying function adequately. After the end of each day’s operations, wash
the rollers with running water to prevent the accumulation of processing solution.
As the upper parts of racks are always in contact with the air, crystals tend to accumulate
on them. If crystals become attached to the racks, the prints may be scratched. After the
end of each day’s operations, wash the racks with running water, and to prevent crystal
build-up, wash the top of the processing racks and gears using a small volume of water and
wipe the top surface of the processing tank with a clean, damp, lint-free cleaning rag.

is pasted onto the window can be set. The following provides a description of other important terms in
addition to “window”.
Window The portion at which the photograph is pasted in album printing or frame photo
and so forth is referred to as a “window”. The entire paper serves as the window
for normal prints.
Template The portion other than the photograph that contains a background portion such
as the background design in album printing or framed photos, or the character
portion in caption printing is referred to as a “template”. In the case of normal
prints, there is no template because there is no background design.
Normal Prints Prints that contain only images without any background design are referred to as
normal prints.
Design Prints Prints that contain a background in addition to the image, such as in album

Every week Cleaning of discharge terminals on the anti-static film cleaner DS-2000E/2001E
Discharge terminals on the anti-static film cleaner contain sharp electrodes which
may injure operator’s fingers and hands. Be careful when cleaning discharge termi-
nals.
Carbon (black color) may pile up on discharge terminals while operating the cleaner unit for a long
period. The carbon piled up on discharge terminals may cause insufficient effect in eliminating
static charges. When discharge terminals become badly dirty with carbon, it may happen to short
electric current out and lose static elimination capability. It may also cause the power cannot be
turned on. It is absolutely necessary to keep discharge terminals clean by cleaning them more
than once a week. The static elimination capability recovers by cleaning discharge terminals.
1 Turn power switch to OFF and pull the power supply input plug out.
2 Detach the both top and bottom dust brushes from the cleaner unit.*
3 Insert screwdriver(–) in the slit being indicated by the arrow-mark on the left discharge termi-
nal cover and pry it downward to release the cover from the hook. Then draw the cover this
side to detach it from the cleaner unit. Do the same process for the right discharge terminal
cover.

thoroughly and wipe the unit again.
• When reinstalling, ensure that the chute unit is pushed firmly into position. If the unit
is not set firmly into position, a malfunction may result.
Refer to ‘Replacing the chemical filter (Every month)’ for the way how to remove the chemical filter.

Every month Washing the processing racks and checking their operation
If crystals build up on the racks, the prints may be scratched. In
addition, additional loading will be placed on the transport system,
thus possibly damaging the gears and rollers. It is needed to wash
the processing racks and to check their operation.
1 After turning off the breaker, open the upper cover of the proces-
sor and remove the light shield plate. Remove the inlet racks,
crossover racks and squeeze racks.

remove the processing racks from the processing tank.
The processing racks must be lifted up gently in order to avoid contamination (mean-
ing the mixing-in of a different processing solution). As a general rule, the processing
racks should be removed in the following order:

has changed.
The color finish may vary slightly depending upon the emulsion number. In order to maintain the
same print level, check the emulsion number every time that paper is reloaded. If the emulsion
number is different, perform the setup procedures. For the paper which is not frequently used,
the paper channel should be set up once every week.
Cleaning the paper dust from the paper magazine (→6-1 Replacing the Paper)
Clean the paper magazine every time that paper is reloaded.
If the paper dust that accumulates in the magazine becomes attached to the paper's emulsion
surface, uneven printing may result. If the paper dust accumulates on the rollers, a paper feed
malfunction may occur.
Cleaning the display monitor
If the display monitor becomes dirty, the actual print colors may be different from the colors
appearing on the monitor. If it is obviously dirty, the monitor should be cleaned.
• Wipe the monitor with a soft and dry cloth.
• If the monitor is extremely dirty, then wipe it using an anti-static screen cleaner.
3 Open the upper part of the film carrier and clean the upper part of transport rollers with a
blower brush.
4 Remove the slit base below the upper part of the film carrier and clean the roller and the small
rollers with a blower brush.
5 Keeping the slit base removed, clean the mirror tunnel with a blower brush.
