1. Differentiate between a repeater and a switch as used in networking?
A repeater regenerates the input data which is subjected to attenuation while switch is an
intelligent device which sends data to a particular port.
2. The internet has revolutionarised the way we live, work, and communicate offering a wide
range of advantages and benefits ,give a detailed discussion .
a. Education like homeschooling is definitely administered using the web ,teachers can
upload their teaching videos on the web and nowadays many more platforms have come
to teach students because of the accessibility of the internet.

b.it has provided people to access endless entertainment whereby all can watch all
categories of entertainment including movies, videos, music and etc .There are many sites
available which contain different categories of entertainment.

c. Students can gain readily available help for their homework online and also education
helps students to gain knowledge in various domain.

d.it has enabled communication whereby the internet allows connection to all from any
location around the globe.

E .It has enabled payments ,finance and banking to be online making them easier ,one may
monitor their bank accounts balance ,perform transactions and transfer funds via the
internet.

3.Discusss the potential pitfalls of the internet and outline the possible mitigating measure to
address them.

a. It is time addictive ,time wasting and causes distractions.

b. Fond of spam which could mislead many.

C .Promotes pornographic and violent images.

D .Could bring about identity theft ,hacking ,viruses and cheating.

They could be mitigated by ;

a. One checking on the privacy policies so that one may know what the owners of the site
plan to do with the information.
 B .One should report messages as spam because it helps to train the mail filter so that the
the messages aren’t delivered to your inbox.

C .One should be aware of options selected by default.

Protocol is a set of rules for routing and addressing packets of data so that the can travel
across and arrive at the correct destination.

http is the hypertext transfer protocol ,it is the foundation of the world wide web and is used
to load webpages using hypertext links .It is an application to transfer information between
devices and runs on top of other layers of the network protocol stacks.

https means hypertext transfer protocol sure ,it is the primary way to securely send data from
a web browser to a website.it encrypts the data entered into a users device to safely
deliver it to the website they are interacting with.

Ftp is a standard network protocol used for the transfer of files from one host to another over
a TCP based network such as the internet.

Tcp stands for transmission control protocol which is a set of standardized rules that allow
computers to communicate on a network such as the internet.
