Can, May, Should, Must

• Can - We use can to say that someone is able to do something.’Cannot’ is used to talk
about something that is not possible or we don’t know how to do. For ex- My dogs
can do many tricks.
• May , May not- We use may to talk about something that is possible, and to ask for
permission politely.We also use may to give permission.

We use May not to talk about something that is not possible, and to refuse
permission.For ex- It may rain later.

• Must, Must not- We use must and must not to make suggestions that are necessary to
be followed. For ex- You must be home by 10 pm.
• Should, Should not- We use should and should not to make suggestions. They are also
used to talk about the right or the important things to do. For ex- We should plant trees.
