5TH GRADE FAREWELL CORRESPONDENCE

Greetings!

The purpose of this communication is to bring all 5th-grade parents up to speed on the progress of
the 5th-Grade Fare well and inform families of the expected individual/family costs for making this
spectacular event possible.

Last week, our 5th-grade planning team met to discuss the 5th-grade farewell and begin the
process of planning this exciting milestone event. The 5th-grade farewell is the culminating activity
for our 5th graders which celebrates their achievement of moving up to middle school and
recognizes their hard work through their elementary years. This event is meant to be a relaxing
and family-centered event in which our parents and students can enjoy each other and their last
moments at our Beechview Elementary. This year’s farewell will take place on June 5th, 2020 and
will be held on the Beechview campus. We will provide all parents with more logistics as we
approach that date.

The anticipated costs of the 5th-grade farewell is approximately $3.5-$4,000, this averages out to
about $50-$60 per student (current 5th-grade enrollment is 55 students). We are asking each 5th
grade family to contribute $25.00 toward expenses. If your family is experiencing a hardship and
you need assistance with this request, please contact your child’s teacher or a member of the
Beechview Office Team. Our goal is to work with Beechview families that may need assistance, so
that all 5th grade students attend this special event. We are asking that payments be made on or
before November 8, 2019. Payments can be made via cash or check (made payable to Beechview
PTA with 5th-grade farewell written on the memo line) and sent into your child’s 5th-grade
teacher.

We also would like to remind parents that your voice and ideas are needed! Our next team
planning meeting is November 4, 2019, in the Beechview Media Center at 5:30 pm. All are
welcome as we will be finalizing the theme selection and moving onto the schematic/logistic
planning phases of this event. If you have any ideas for the theme and/or fundraising
