Begin by reading The Family Book by Todd Parr
Opening statement
After reading our book, what did you notice about the different families in our book? A family
can look a lot of different ways. I want everyone to make a picture of what your family looks
like. What does your family look like at home?
Middle of Activity
Early: Student scribbles on their paper.
Middle: Student makes a simple representation of their family dynamic.
Later: Student makes a detailed representation with many details of their family dynamic.
End of Activity
Students will be able to share the drawings they made of their family, they will point who is
who in their drawings and hopefully notice some differences and similarities in family
dynamics.
