commission was also increased by 5%. Each computer was now sold at a discount of 10%. Her

iii. How much more total earnings she would have received if there was no discount on the
computers. (2 marks)

22. (a) A train starts from rest at station A and is uniformly accelerated until it reaches a speed of
108km/h. It then travels until it stops at station B. The magnitude of this retardation is twice the
magnitude of the initial acceleration. The distance between the stations is 12km and the time taken
for the journey is 10 minutes. Find,

(b) A cyclist who averages 24km/hr leaves a town X at 0700hours. A car averaging 72km/hr leaves X
by the same road half an hour later. It goes to Y, 90km away, stays there for 15 minutes then returns by
the same road. How far from X does the car meet the cyclist for the second time? (3 marks)
