Running Head: CROSS-CULTURAL COMMUNICATION
scenario to illustrate your perspective. Consider using strategies from this week’s video
A manager has a variety of methods he can choose from to overcome the barrier that
is cross-cultural communication. The one that I feel would be best for a manager to consider
It is my opinion that these three factors best assist a manager when dealing with cross-
cultural communication. Picture a scenario where there is a local shopping mall where it
serves a diverse community. It is important for the manager to promote the different cultures
of his/her employees and clients through an event such as a cultural day where the mall
invites clients and co-workers to come and participate in the appreciation of a specific
culture, in this case let’s say Chinese culture, where the manager will invite the clients and
employees of Chinese heritage to bring along cultural foods, prepare some cultural activities
and cultural intriguing art works, antiques and things of the like. The manager should also
encourage shops within the mall to offer discounts under the name of cultural day, which
would have the effect of attracting those of a different heritage to attend the cultural day
where they would learn about and appreciate a different culture which would not only aid in
bridging the cross cultural barrier but also improve relationships within the community.
