internship on campus aiming to educate on and combat campus wide and global inequities with recognition to all demographics of individuals. This Internship is located in the Women and Gender Resource Center on the University of Arizona Campus COMPREHENSIVE SEX ED
I was able to partner with another intern to
provide an educational session to students and community members teaching about sexual education policies in Arizona and the United States. This class also taught about the health outcomes of those with and without comprehensive sexual education, and was assisted with many data points outlining the importance of this form of schooling in youth in terms of pregnancy related outcomes, mental health, and sexual wellbeing. CONTENT CLASSES
An aspect of this internship focused on extensive educational lessons weekly following
events, historical data, or social justice issues present in society. Within these classes, I was able to focus my attention to gain a much deeper understanding on a multitude of topics such as modern day genocides, policing in the United States, abortion regulations, barriers that impact various different marginalized communities, etc. From here, I have been able to look at every topic in a more intersectional approach, and have been able to correct my daily perspective on topics to be far more inclusive. FEMINIST PHARMACY
FORCE offers the Feminist Pharmacy, which
gives individuals free access to contraceptives, menstruation products, and Plan B to everyone free of cost and without questions asked. This is a vital tool and is widely used by students and staff. Once again, this is intern led and maintained. CONCLUSION
FORCE is a great resource for students and
individuals active at the University of Arizona, from providing education, resources, and support to those in the community, FORCE also strives to address the barriers that students face due to marginalized status to make campus life more equitable for all populations.
