Garuda Wisnu Kencana Statue

Have you ever heard about a giant statue that call Garuda Wisnu Kencana, it located in Garuda
Wisnu Kencana Cultural Park, Bali, Indonesia. The statue stands on a limestone hill 263 meters
above sea level in the Garuda Wisnu Kencana Cultural Park area covering an area of around 250
hectares. It was designed by I Nyoman Nuarta and is the third-tallest statue in the world after the
Statue of Liberty in the United States and the Spring Temple Buddha in China. The background of the
establishment of the GWK statue is to realize a new tourist destination in Bali. The name Garuda
Wisnu Kencana comes from the names of the existing characters, namely Garuda and Wisnu, while
kencana means gold because the throne where the Garuda bird statue and Lord Vishnu stand is
covered in gold. The Garuda bird symbolizes loyalty and selfless devotion, as well as the national
emblem of Indonesia.
Garuda Wisnu Kencana is the manifestation of Lord Vishnu who is the God of Preservation (Sthiti) in
the Hindu religion riding on a Garuda bird

GWK was built over a period of 21 years, from 1997 to 2018. The statue is made of copper, steel,
and brass and weighs 4,000 tons. It is 64 meters wide and can be seen from a distance of 20 km.

150-meter high statue of Vishnu and the mythical Bird of Garuda. The park is located in Ungasan,
