My name is Leanne. When I was ten, my mother bought me a scooter.

It was red and I really

loved it. Our street was quite steep. I took my scooter to the top of the street. I started to
ride my scooter. I went faster and faster. I felt the wind in my hair. I felt really great. I got
halfway down the street and I tried to slow down. I couldn’t slow down! Some other kids were
there. They shouted, ‘Slow down!’ Then they shouted ‘Stop now!’ At the bottom of the street,
there was a bank (a little hill). After the bank, there was a field. I reached the end of the
street and I didn’t stop! I went down the bank and into the field. Then I fell off my scooter. I
hit my head on a stone. I had a big bump on my head. The other kids followed me and saw the
accident. I started crying! I went home and my dad brought some ice to put on my head. I was
more careful with my scooter after that!
