THE CURRENT TRENDS

SEEN IN THE FIELD OF

INFORMATION
TECHNOLOGY
GROUP 4
WHAT IS INFORMATION
TECHNOLOGY?
It is the use of any computers, storage,
networking, and other physical devices that
infrastructure and processes to create, store,
secure, and exchange all forms of electronic
data. Is used in business operations, as
opposed to the technology used for personal
or entertainment purposes.
WHAT ARE TRENDS?
It is what is the hip or
popular at a certain point
in time which, simply
reflects what seems to be
going around you.
ARTIFICIAL
INTELEGENCE
It is a simulation of human
intelligence processes by machines,
especially computer systems.
Examples are chatgpt, quillbot, and
such.
MACHINE
LEARNING
A subdivision of AI, plays a
pivotal role for organizations
that are striving to harness the
power of collected data,
extracting meaningful insights
and predicting patterns.
CLOUD
COMPUTING
A a crucial component of
contemporary IT solutions,
catering to companies of
all sizes.
EDGE
COMPUTING
A distributed computing
framework that enables
data to be processed
closer to where it is
created.
INTERNET OF THINGS (IOT)
A technology that allows us to
add a device to an inert object
such as vehicles, roofs, lighting,
and plant electronic systems, that
can measure environmental
parameters, generate associated
data, and transmit them through a
communications network.
BLOCKCHAIN
Commonly associated with
cryptocurrencies, the
technology has seamlessly
integrated into diverse fields
necessitating decentralized
data storage and transparent
transactions.
ROBOTIC PROCESS
AUTOMATION (RPA)
Pivotal technology facilitates digital
transformation across sectors such
as finance, healthcare, and
insurance. This technology creates
software programs or bots that can
log into applications, enter data,
calculate and complete tasks, and
copy data between applications or
workflows as required.
QUANTUM
COMPUTING
A way of transmitting and
processing information
based on the phenomena
of quantum mechanics
such as traditional
computers that use binary
code to handle
information.
VIRTUAL REALITY AND
AUGMENTED REALITY
(VR/AR)
Originally confined to gaming and entertainment realms,
augmented reality and virtual reality technologies, but it
is now extended beyond leisure such as in the retail
sector VR/AR tools are enhancing the online shopping
experience, it is also across various industries such as
automotive and construction, engineers and designers
to create digital prototypes, and these also serve as
invaluable training tools for medical personnel.
CYBERSECURITY
An approach that has multiple layers
of protection spread across the
computers, networks, programs, or
data that one intends to keep safe
from threats or attacks such as
phishing, ransomware, and malware.
DATAFICATION
A transformation of social action into
online quantified data, allowing for
real-time tracking and predictive
analysis that can be put to social use
such as social media platforms,
Netflix, insurance, banking, and
human resources.
GENOMICS
Is a field that focuses on the
study of an organism’s complete
set of DNA, undergoing rapid
improvements, driven by cutting-
edge technologies and
computational tools.
BIG DATA
An extremely large and diverse
collection of structured, unstructured,
and semi-structured data that
continues to grow exponentially over
time. It is used in machine learning,
predictive modeling, and other
advanced analytics to solve problems
and make informed decisions.
SMART TECHNOLOGY
Refers to the integration of advanced digital capabilities into everyday
devices and systems, enhancing their functionality and connectivity.
This trend is gaining momentum as consumers increasingly seek
seamless and intelligent solutions in various aspects of their lives.
