Research Paper Writing Competition
To Celebrate
Innovation Day 2023
Introduction
Amity Law School recognizes the importance of innovative research and dissemination of the
findings for the law. Researching, writing, and presenting a paper provides students with
invaluable early experience in communicating innovative ideas related to their professional
fields. The contest allows ALS Students to exercise and improve innovative written
communication skills.
Topics
1. The effectiveness of India’s cybercrime investigation and prosecution framework in dealing
with cybercrime cases.
2. The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on intellectual property laws in India, including
patent rights, trademark rights, and copyright laws.
3. The effectiveness of India’s laws and policies in promoting innovation and creativity in the
digital age.
4. The effectiveness of the new Trade Marks (Amendment) Act, 2021 in protecting trademarks
in India
Objective
The ALS Research Paper Competition on occasion of Innovation Day aims to improve students’
innovative written communication skills and report novel and original research results to the
legal field. The contest will facilitate the recognition of these innovative skills and encourage
other student members to develop technical and innovative written communication skills.
Prize
The best 5 research papers will be awarded with e-certificates and will be given a chance to
resent their paper in the programme.
Rules & Regulations:
1. This competition is open to all students (UG and PG) who are currently enrolled in a
course at Amity Law School, Mumbai.
2. The student must be the paper’s first author and principal contributor.
3. Research Paper should be submitted in hard copy at the department.
4. Along with the paper submission, a duly completed Entry Form should be submitted
proving the details of the author. (At the time of submission this Entry Form will be
provided).
5. Papers submitted to this competition should not have been published in any other
publication yet. If already published then the paper will be DISQUALIFIED.
6. The paper should, moreover, explain the significance of the presented work, and
provide a well-structured, clear, and concise presentation of the subject matter.
7. Plagiarism upto 10 per cent would be allowed.
8. Word limit for Research Paper is 1500-2500 words.
9. The Research Paper should be as per the following format:
Font: Times New Roman
Font Size: 12
Line-spacing: 1.5
Text-alignment: Justified
10. A short abstract should be between 150 to 300 words that outlines the main question
or theme addressed in the paper is required to be sent along with the submission.
11. Papers not in the described format will be rejected.
Judging:
1. The papers will be judged for the Written Presentation, Subject Matter and Citations
(Details are given under Assessment Criteria head).
2. The decision by the judging panel, as accepted by the HOI, will be the final decision
and no appeal against the decision will be entertained.
Assessment Criteria:
1. Written Presentation (worth 40%):
- Concise, informative abstract
- The flow of ideas, and integration of literature to support purpose, approach, and findings.
- Adequacy of the conclusion
- Clarity and direction in exposition
- Grammar, spelling, style, and choice of words
2. Subject Matter (worth 40%):
- The originality of ideas and conclusions
- Originality in analysis and interpretation
- Quality of content
3. Citations (worth 20%):
- Bluebook, APA or MLA style of citation
Important Dates:
1. Last Date of Submission – 15th September 2023
2. Declaration of Result and Innovation Day Celebration – 25th September 2023
