Simphony EMC Installation Guide


Purpose
This job aide will walk you through these steps on how to install the Simphony EMC (Enterprise Management
Console) client software package to the most current version. EMC is used by managers for completing tasks
such as adding new users or modifying the printing location for menu item orders. Dependent on user
permissions / brand standards, EMC can also be used to add new menu items, modify existing menu items,
and update prices.

Instructions
1. Dependent on the data center your hotel is hosted you will need to download the most up to date
installation package. If you are unsure of which data center you are hosted please review our Simphony
Cloud Hotel List.

Based on the data center your hotel is hosted, select the correct link to download the EMC installation package:

2. Download and run the package. You may be asked to enter administrator credentials in this step.

• Users with Marriott PC’s: Marriott managed users’ installation requires ‘Elevate’ or comparable
administrator account privileges to install this package. The Marriott Service Desk can provide the
Elevate password to users upon request. Contact the Service Desk at 240-632-6000 Options 4 -> 1 ->

• Users with Franchisee PC’s: Contact your company’s local IT administrator if access rights are
required to install software on the PC.

• Users with Personal PC’s: Enter your personal admin password if prompted, otherwise installation
should proceed without prompting for credentials.

3. Select ‘Next’ on the Welcome Page of the Setup Wizard

4. Select ‘Next’. The Setup Wizard will automatically install EMC at the below file path-

C:\Program Files\Oracle Hospitality\EMCClient

9. . Select ‘Install’ to start the installation.

10. Select ‘Finish’ to exit the Setup Wizard.

11. Confirm the “Simphony (EMC)” application icon is displayed on your desktop

12. Double-click the “EMC” icon - the EMC splash screen will appear

13. The EMC login screen will appear. Enter the correct server address based on the data center your hotel is
hosted

• IAD Data Center: miemc.simphony.net


• FRA Data Center: stwdtrans.microsdc.com
• Enter login credentials

*NOTE: The “Can’t Sign In” link is not currently operable and will not process any
password resets.

• If you have forgotten your password or your login has been locked out you may visit
the GPOS Self Service Password Reset Portal to reset your EMC password.
• For all other GPOS access issues open a ServiceNow Incident with GPOS Support

14. The first time you login or if there has been an enterprise update you may get a message that EMC has been
updated to the latest version.
• Click on the X on the top right-hand corner and relaunch EMC from your desktop shortcut. If the
message continues after relaunching, repeat the relaunch of EMC and login as normal.

15. Click “OK” if the following message appears after logging in.

16. EMC should load to your home screen at this point.

***The high-resolution settings of some computers may make the text in EMC illegible, and
cut off navigation bars needed to scroll through records. The following instructions will
outline the steps required to change EMC application display scale settings.

a) Exit the EMC application if you are currently logged in


b) Locate the EMC application file from the following path
Windows C: > Program Files > Oracle Hospitality > EMCClient > EMC.exe

*Other possible EMC Client folder locations:

• Windows C: > Program Files > Micros EMC Client > EMC Client > EMC.exe.config
• Windows C: > Oracle Hospitality > EMC > EMC Client > EMC.exe.config
• Windows C: > Users > your username > Documents > EMC Client > EMC.exe.config

c) Right-click the EMC application file and select Properties

*Right-click directly on the icon to pull up the correct short-cut tool bar

d) Select the Compatibility tab


e) Select Change high DPI settings
a. Check the box to Override DPI scaling
behavior
f) Use drop down to select, “System”
g) Select OK
h) Select Apply
i) Select OK again to EXIT
j) Restart EMC using your desktop
shortcut
