Fluency Circle Welcome Guide
Fluency Circle Welcome Guide
Aww yeah Global Citizen, welcome to the RealLife Fluency Circle Telegram Group! This is your Call to Adventure,
an exclusive invite to a world beyond borders, a microcosm of the world where you won’t just learn English, but
you will LIVE it.
The entire RealLife Coaching Team, and the Volunteer Community Leaders, are stoked (excited) to welcome you
to our International Learning Family, a place where we are constantly waking up to a Global Consciousness, the
life-changing realization that no matter what divides us, what unites us is far greater.
What to Expect
A vibrant global chat room: The telegram group is very active, so there will be a lot of messages. That can be
intimidating for new members, but the community is very welcoming, and you aren’t required to read all of them.
It’s wonderful when new members engage and participate regularly and “keep up” (stay informed) with the
happenings. We recognize that this can be a challenge for some people, but here are a few tips for participating:
Read the Daily Summary: The group is quite active, so if you can’t read all the messages, most days one of
our dedicated key members does us the great service of posting a summary of the day’s highlights.
Participate in the Challenges: Our community leaders often organize video, audio, or text challenges that
ask our members to record, write, or even sing.
Participate in the Speaking Opportunities: People in the group are often meeting up for speaking practice
via the Fluency Circle Calendar, Discussion Clubs, or even the RealLife Speaking Platform (under
development).
Post or Respond to Something Every Day: Some people say good morning every day, others respond,
answer questions, share something interesting about themselves, respond to other people’s comments.
Welcome New Members: We’re always introducing new members into the group, so one of the most
kind and supportive things you can do is welcome them. Many don’t end up participating, but some do,
and saying hi makes all the difference!
Things to Avoid
Please don’t post non-approved advertisements – this can be a grey area (open to interpretation), for
example, invites to sign up for other services, or advertisements to do this or that. Generally lessons,
videos, and English learning resources are fine, but use your best judgement.
Swearing (bad words)- this can be “a fine line” (a subtle distinction) but try your best to avoid using
language that might be offensive to others. Here’s an article that might help guide you on this topic.
Important: Before we add you to the Fluency Circle Telegram Group, we will ask you “Which Pill Do You Choose?”
Please read the following image and write down/ remember your answer.
Understand the deeper meaning behind this image by watching this short 1 minute scene from the movie “The Matrix.”
2. Send Ksenia, our Community Admin, a Telegram message letting her know who you are.
a. Make sure you have Telegram downloaded, then click here to send Ksenia a message.
b. Write your message. For example: “Hi Ksenia, this is __________, a new RealLife English student, my
email address I subscribed with is ________. Can you please add me to the Telegram group when you
have a chance?”
c. If you’re new to Telegram, here are some Telegram Tips we compiled.
We add a group of new members every few days, so you might have to wait a few days. After we confirm your
registration, we will add you soon, so please be patient!
