Remote Desktop Connection

1. On your windows desktop, type Remote Desktop Connection in the search box on the
taskbar, and then select Remote Desktop Connection.
2. You should see the Remote Desktop Connection below:

3. In remote desktop connection, enter the IP address and click Connect.

4. You may see the message below, if you do, click Yes

5. Enter your assigned password, and you should enter the remote desktop.
6. Click on the pctest icon in the taskbar.
7. You are now ready to begin Learning Activity 1.

Learning Activity 1: Oracle STP User Interface

Provides hands-on practice with the Oracle STP user interface for
system login and terminal manipulation.

After completing this exercise, the participant will be able to:


• Log onto the Eagle Simulator via Remote Desktop
• Retrieve terminal security attributes
• Retrieve security related system attributes
• Retrieve terminal attributes
• Retrieve database status
• Observe troubles in the STP

Using the rtrv-secu-trm command from the commands manual, each participant will verify the
terminal I/O port security attributes that enable a user to enter commands from command
classes.
Note: The terminal number, 1-16 is displayed in the System ID region (upper right) of a VT320
display. The terminal number is not displayed in KSR mode.

Assignment D
Using the rtrv-trm command, participant will verify the terminal (I/O port) attributes to display
the following types of unsolicited messages.

Note: The terminal number, 1-16 is displayed in the System ID Region of the VT320 display. Use
this information when entering the rtrv-trm:trm=4 command to retrieve the terminal information
for your specific terminal only.

Learning Activity 2 Instructions
1. Log into the assigned Remote Global Desktop
a. You will be automatically logged in to the Eagle STP simulator
2. Open the excel spreadsheet for the assigned STP.
3. Only enter the data for “E1” provisioning at this time.
4. The provisioning must be performed in this order:
a. chg-sid
b. chg-feat
c. ent-card
d. ent-e1
e. ent-dstn
f. ent-ls
g. ent-slk
h. ent-rte
i. alw-card
j. act-slk
5. Verify the cards and signaling links are in service normal (IS-NR) with the
following commands:
a. rept-stat-card
b. rept-stat-slk ( links will remain out of service (OOS-MT)

Learning Activity 5 Instructions
Assignment A - Backup to Fixed Disk
1. Log into the assigned Remote Global Desktop
a. You will be automatically logged in to the Eagle STP simulator
2. Enter the command, rept-stat-db
3. Is the database in the Fixed Disk Current (FD CRNT) and (FD BKUP) partitions
on the fixed disks coherent? “Y”

4. Enter the following command: chg-db:action=backup:dest=fixed.


5. When the backup is complete, enter the rept-sat-db command to verify that
the level in the FD BKUP and FD CRNT partitions have the same value. (Level)
6. The activity is complete.
