Lottery winners, what becomes of them

We all want to win a lottery at least once to get

hold of the grand prize money that is advertised, we all
aspire and wish that we could be as lucky as the person
who won these lotteries, but almost every winner turns
out to be a loser one way or the another after few years,
they go back to where they came from rather than
actually be greater than they were during the time of
lottery winning. I know this whole thing seems to be too
much and you won’t believe what is being said here. For
understanding this, we are going to take examples of
most of the winners who lost everything and. We will
cover examples from each country to give an idea that
it’s a trend that’s prominent.

1. United States Of America

Andrew Jack Whittaker: According to Yahoo
news, Jack Whittaker won a $314 million Powerball jackpot
in the year 2002. The West Virginia construction worker
donated stacks of cash to churches, diner waitresses, family
members, strangers and his local strip club until he ran out
of money.
Denise Rossi: Greed takes a toll on her after she
wins lottery. Denise Rossi won $1.3 million in the California
lottery and immediately she demanded divorce from her
husband after 25 years. Thomas Rossi was shocked to learn
that his wife wanted a fast divorce from what he believed
was a happy marriage. He later learned that 11 days before
she demanded a divorce, she had won California lottery. He
took her to court and a judge ruled that Denise Rossi
intentionally broke asset-disclosure laws to hide the jackpot
winnings. The judge awarded every penny of Denise's
winnings to Thomas Rossi.

2. Canada
Gerald Muswagon: He won $10 million in the Canadian Super 7
lottery on a single $2 ticket. According to The Globe and Mail He
bought a house, blew the cash on cars, partying and gifts, while
racking up a string of legal entanglements. Seven years after his big
win, he hanged himself in his parents’ garage. He was doing manual
labor on a farm to support his girlfriend and six young children after
blowing away all the money he had won.
Ibi Roncaioli: She had won 5 million in lottery winnings in the year 1991. She dies in
the year 2003, it was understood in the year 2008 that
her husband had poisoned her for her money. Ibi
Roncaioli had squandered not only the lottery fortune
but also the hefty salary her gynecologist husband
earned. Authorities believe that the husband made
plans when he discovered his wife’s double life, which
authorities allege included alcoholism and reckless
gambling.

3. United Kingdom

Lara and Roger Griffiths: According to

Yahoo news, The British couple won a
$2.19 million jackpot. Roger chased his
rock star dreams, released the album. They
bought exotic cars, an expensive house,
designer clothes, and a pricey private
school for their daughter, opened a salon;
where Lara was later forced to work as an
employee just to make ends meet. In the
end, the couple was left with less than $10.
Their marriage ended in divorce less than a
decade after winning the lottery.

Michael Carroll: He won a British jackpot that

sent him into early adulthood with the equivalent
of $11.8 million. The media dubbed him the “Lotto
Lout”. After five years of excessive partying, a
cocaine habit, a fetish for prostitutes and fancy
cars, Carroll went broke and trying to get his old
garbageman job back. As of 2016, he was earning a
few hundred dollars a week working in a
slaughterhouse.

4. India
Ayyapan Pillai: As per Asianet News Ayyapan Pillai
from Kerala, India won 7 crore ₹(106 million USD) which
is a great amount in India. He began receiving letters
which in total were about 786 asking for donations, help
and loans. He also lost many friends and family as they
wanted a share of his winnings. He provided help to few
he considered valid and true.
Mustafa:
Mustafa hailing again from Kerala, India had won 10
crores ₹ (approx. 156 million USD) and it was
celebrated by all, but now after 5 years he is all alone.
His wife and two sons left him, they allege him of
beating his wife and being drunk all the time, while
he says they took all they wanted and left him alone.
From all these examples we can understand that
winning a lottery doesn’t always bring happiness or guarantees unlimited money flow until the
end of time. For a lottery winner to continue as a winner he/she must be financially aware,
emotionally balanced and overall equipped to control his/her desires to accommodate a
financially secure environment for the future.
