UNSC YEMEN CIVIL WAR

Dominican Republic

Good evening, Mrs. and Mr. delegates, today we are gathered to debate about
the worst humanity crisis the world has ever seen. It is an honor to be here in this room,
representing the Dominican Republic, in this discussion about the civil war that is
happening in Yemen.

Yemen is in a delicate position, as result of a conflict between the Shiites, a

group that the greater part of the members is in Iran, and the Sunists, a group that the
greater part of the members is in Saudi Arabia. Posterior to the entrance of Abd Rabbuh
Mansur Al-Hadi, a Sunist, as the representative of Yemen, the Shiites started to generate
a mass of combats antagonizing the governmental decisions, afterwards, getting the
control of the capital, Sana’a. However, the population has been set aside on the
governmental priorities, inducing this current humanity crisis. In the background of this
conflict, the inhabitants are going through a huge shortage emergency for their survival.
They are left out of aliments, achieving an enormous number of innutrition,
simultaneously to the absence of medicine and basic sanitation. That is provoking a lot
of epidemics and pestilence, like the cholera, that have accomplished 14 millions of
people and killed 1.5 millions of people, considering that for every minute, a child
suffers from an acute diarrhea.

The Dominican Republic possesses a compromise, attempt to the initials

UNMHA, that cooperates with ONU, that is responsible for supporting the
implementation of the Estolcomo agreement among the cities of Al-Hudaydah, Al-Salif,
Ras Isa and the seaport to cease the political conflicts at Yemen in order to facilitate the
humanity help. The population demands a lot of help, and together, we can offer the
support they need.

The Dominican Republic expect that this debate will have the chance to solve
this obstacle and this civil war in a beneficial way for all the involved countries. 80% of
the population in Yemen needs assistance and humanity protection, and gathered here,
we can find a way to cease this combat and focus on what is really important, the
people.
