Methodology for Puff test at Discharge pressure (25 Bars) to check Piping
network of NOVEC/ FM-200 (fittings, hangers and piping system).

This test is addition to Pneumatic/flow test at 40 PSI in closed circuit to check leakages as agreed in

PAT document.

Steps Elaboration Status

Vendor shall thoroughly prepare those rooms for required tests prior to
offering the same to Client. Vendor team along with SM/Manager EHS and rep
from client shall record all the work executed to prepare the rooms and

include before/after pictures with description and document signed-off by both

Step-1
Vendor and Client teams.

After the successful completion of test, remaining rooms shall also be prepared
by Vendor according to document signed.
For this test, Pressure Gauge shall be Calibrated, and Calibration Label installed
Step-2 on the Pressure Gauge by Vendor and verified by Client teams.
Once room is ready for test, Vendor shall conduct leakage test in a closed
circuit at 40 PSI in presence of client teams (Using air). After removing the
source of pressurizing gas, pressure in the pipe shall not be < 80% of test
Step-3 pressure after 10 mins.
Vendor shall Disconnect NOVEC 1230 / FM-200 Cylinder from the
Step-4 piping network to connect Nitrogen Cylinder.

Regulator and Pressure Gauges shall be installed before high pressure ball valve
which shall be coupled with Piping system. High pressure ball valve, couplings
etc. shall be ensured to withstand pressure of 25 Bars.

Pressure Gauges shall Monitor Pressure being induced into piping network.
Once pressure of 25 Bars is achieved on Pressure Gauge, Ball valve shall be fully
Step-5 opened for 10 seconds to let Nitrogen flow through Piping system and

Discharge from Nozzles. Visual indicators shall be used to verify that Nitrogen
has discharged out of each and every nozzle in the system. After 10 sec, close
the ball valve.

Quantity of Nitrogen shall be sufficient enough for discharging for min 10

seconds. Quantity of Nitrogen shall be sufficient enough for discharging for min
To check the leakages, Vendor shall again conduct leakage test in a closed
10 seconds.
circuit at 40 PSI in presence of Client teams (Using air). After removing the
Step-6
source of pressurizing gas, pressure in the pipe shall not be < 80% of test
pressure after 10 mins.
Those fitting and joints failing shall be identified. Any hangers/supports failing
Step-7 shall also be identified.
