ABSTRACT

The preparation of yam cake was delivered due to increase in malnutrition yam are rich in
vitamin c which is an antioxidants which can boost the immune system and also regulates the
estrogen hormone secretion. It has many health benefits like to boost brain, health reduce
inflammation and improve blood sugar control.The process of preparing the yam cake began by
heating a an over medium heat then frying the onions and dried prawn until they became
aromatic. Then add yam to the pan and fry with onions and dry shrimps’ mixture until the yam
became brown. Using a bowl mix the rice flour, wheat starch and water and stirred until it forms
a thick paste. Add salt then spice powder and mix well. Pour the mixture into a heat proof bowl
and steam over heat until it is cooked. Serve it with dried flied shallots, chopped onions and
chilli sauce. Thus wheat starch helps to make cake softer in texture during my preparation of the
yam cake I discovered out that a cake that has cooled is more sweet than the cake that has been
considered instantly after preparation and also found that the ready cake have spaces and is light
in weight.
