Debate Arguments

Your assigned position _________________________

- As a team, spend about 10 minutes sharing ideas that you highlighted in the
articles that you printed and marked.
- Then discuss and select 6 Main Argument Ideas. These ideas should be broad
not specific. For example, Cost of Supplies or Environmental Impact or Other
Types of Dating Methods or Contradicting Dating Test.
- List the ideas below.

Main Argument Ideas:

5. _____________________________________________

6. _____________________________________________

- Next assign the main arguments ideas to team members. Each team member
should have 3 arguments assigned to him or her, and be sure all arguments are
assigned to at least one person. Some will be assigned to more than one person.
On your own, use the articles that you printed and were given in class to complete the following
pages. If you need more information, you may need to find additional articles. Record your
assigned 3 main arguments (reasons) on the charts. Then find 3 specific supporting
facts/statistics for each argument to support your position. These need to be specific facts. You
are not working together with your team to complete there sections as it is beneficial for you to
have different facts than your teammates. You will use your arguments and support for the
debate, and each team member must contribute to receive full credit for the activity. So the more
facts you have, increases your chances of winning.
Bonus points for individuals can be earned for strong and creative participation.
