I Brigitte entered to study architecture at the Javeriana University,

however, I withdrew to "confront environmental destruction, deforestation,

pollution; I wanted to be useful, to do something meaningful for the planet".

With my thesis on the ecology of fishing that I did with the Andoque and Uitotos

indigenous people in the Caquetá region, I discovered my interest in working

with the people and building bridges between indigenous knowledge and

scientific knowledge.

I realized that there is not enough scientific evidence to prove that the

exploration and exploitation of resources destroys the territories.

There have been innumerable studies and works done by many

universities and institutions that demonstrate that it is not a sector that is

negatively affecting the ecosystems and the ecological stability of the country.

On the contrary, it is a sector on which restoration and recovery and investments

in biodiversity depend to a great extent.

Identify that there are areas that have been severely affected by poor mining

practices.

Examine that this does not mean that there are not horrible cases, there

are very bad mines, there are regions where oil has left a large footprint of

destruction that must be recovered, so I decided to help Colombia through my

teaching in ecology to raise awareness and a little more sustainable development

in the midst of so much destruction and pollution.
