We all use water without really thinking about it,but now we need to change our ways.
We’re at the tipping point of needing to take a more active role in reducing the amount of water
we use.
Changes in weather patterns and the effects of global warming have had such a dramatic
effect on the water supply that scarcity and cost are becoming increasingly important issues for all
of us.
Water conservation means using our water wisely and caring for it properly. Since each of
us depends on water for life, it is our responsibility to learn more about water conservation and
how we can help keep our water pure and safe for generations to come.
Saving water now means having water available in the future for recreation purposes, too.
Conserving the water we have minimizes the effects of water shortages and helps build a better
defense against future drought years. If we save water now, we are helping to ensure a water
supply adequate for future generations. Saving water saves money.

Today, about half of the world’s population lives in urban areas. There are over 400 cities
with more than a million people. In developed countries, up to 70% or more live in larger cities,

During the 19th and the beginning of the 20th century cities grew fast,especially in Europe
and North America, because new industries were created there and people found many jobs. Later
on cities grew more slowly because they became overcrowded and diseases could spread faster.
Today death rates in cities are low because they have better doctors and more hospitals.

Indah, sorry I haven’t written to you for so long. We moved into a new apartment last month
and we’ve been really busy getting settled.
It’s a nice apartment. It is bigger than our old one. It’s big so there are a lot of rooms to work
in. It has a big living room, two bedrooms and two bathrooms. Another thing I like is the
kitchen.
The apartment is on a quiet street in a good neighborhood. There’s also a shopping centre
just down the street with a supermarket, some quite good restaurants and some stores.
 We really enjoy living here. Do come over and have a look next time you are in the town. I’ll

Students are not allowed to chew gum in my class. While some students think that I
am just being mean, there are many good reasons for this rule. First, some
irresponsible students make messes with their gum. They may leave it on the bottoms
of desks, drop it on the floor, or put it on other people’s property. Another reason
why I don’t allow students to chew gum is because it is a distraction. When they are
allowed to chew gum, students are more worried about having it, popping it, chewing
it, and snapping it then they are in listening, writing, reading, and learning. This is
why I don’t allow students to chew gum in my class.

A drought begins with a disruption to the water cycle, the circulation of water from the
earth’s atmosphere to its surface. Sometimes this disruption happens naturally, such as during a
heat wave. Most droughts are temporary and can occur in all climates. Some climates are
permanently dry, or arid, such as deserts.
A drought is a shortage of precipitation over a period of time. Droughts get worse when rivers
and streams dry up,living peolpe without water to drink and to grow food. Droughts should not
be confused with arid climate, where very little precipitation falls year round. A drought
happens when a specific geographic region receives much less precipitation than normal
condition that are thought to be drought-like in Africa or parts of Australia. In arid climates,
peple have developed ways of surviving with very little water. They also conserve what little
water they have.
