1.4 Submittals For Review

A. As per the Engineer’s Instructions.

B. Shop Drawings:
1. Indicate profiles, sizes, spacing, locations of structural members, openings,
attachments, and fasteners.
2. Connections not detailed.
3. Cambers, and loads.
4. Indicate welded connections with AWS A2.0 welding symbols. Indicate net weld
lengths.

1.5 Submittals For Information

A. Manufacturer's Mill Certificate: Certify that Products meet or exceed specified


requirements.

B. Mill Test Reports: Submit indicating structural strength, destructive and non-
destructive test analysis.

C. Welders Certificates: Certify welders employed on the Work, are of approved


experience.

1.6 Quality Assurance

A. Fabricate structural steel members in accordance with BS 5950 or AISC Code of


Standard Practice.

B. Perform Work in accordance with AISC Section 10.

C. Maintain one copy of each document on site.

D. Fabricator: Company specializing in performing the work of this section and


approved by the Engineer.

E. Erector: Company specializing in performing the work of this section and approved
by the Engineer.

F. Design connections not detailed on the Drawings under direct supervision of a


licensed Professional Structural Engineer experienced in design of this work.

1.7 Regulatory Requirements

A. The p
protection treatment chosen should be able to p
provide two coats : one coat of
primer epoxy
p p yp paint “100 micron” for all members. And one coat of finish epoxy paint
“100 micron” for all members.

PART 2 PRODUCTS

2.1 Materials

A. Structural Steel Members: S235 / S275JR.

B. Base Plates: ASTM A578.

C. Structural Tubing: ASTM A500, Grade B.

D. Pipe: ASTM A53, Grade B.

E. Shear Stud Connectors: ASTM A108, ASTM A449

F. Bolts, Nuts, and Washers: B.S3692, ASTM A307, ASTM A325 bolts, ASTM A563
nuts, galvanized to ASTM A123, A153 for galvanized structural members.

G. Anchor Bolts: ASTM A307.

H. Rivets: ASTM A502; high strength [hot-driven] type or carbon steel.

J. Corrugated steel sheet: 0.6mm thick with all necessary painting.

K. Welding Materials: AWS D1.1; type required for materials being welded.

L. Shop and Touch-Up Primer: Red oxide.

2.2 Fabrication

A. Space shear stud connectors at required distances.

B. Continuously seal joined members by continuous welds. Grind exposed welds


smooth.

C. Fabricate connections for bolt, nut, and washer connectors, or for rivetting.

D. Develop required camber for members.

E. Fabricate glazing elements for canopies to suite correct measurements.

PART 2 PRODUCTS (Cont’d)

2.3 Finish

A. Protective treatment of steel work shall be as follows:

- Sand blast to SA 2 ½

- Epoxy paint

2.4 Source Quality Control And Tests

A. Provide shop testing and analysis of structural steel sections.

PART 3 EXECUTION

3.1 Examination

A. As per the Jordanian Codes.

3.2 Erection

A. Allow for erection loads, and for sufficient temporary bracing to maintain structure
safe, plumb, and in true alignment until completion of erection and installation of
permanent bracing.

B. Field weld/bolt or rivet components and shear studs as indicated on Drawings/shop


drawings.

C. Field connect members with threaded fasteners; torque to required resistance, or


with rivets, as required.

D. Do not field cut or alter structural members without approval of Engineer.

E. After erection, prime welds, abrasions, and surfaces not shop primed, except
surfaces to be in contact with concrete.

F. Grout under base plates. Trowel grouted surface smooth, splay neatly to 45
degrees.

G. Apply final finishes as indicated on drawings.

3.3 Erection Tolerances

A. Conform to erection tolerances specified in AISC.

3.4 Field Quality Control

A. Visual Inspection:

1. As a minimum carry out visual inspection of all shop and field welds in
accordance with AISC or BS standard.

B. Non – Destructive Testing

1. Carried out by radiography, magnatic particle or ultra sonic methos, which


ever is more appropriate.
