CONTEXT AND RATIONALE

Active learning is the result of creative teaching. It gives educators and students the freedom to
openly share their thoughts and opinions in original ways. Because there are so many aspects of
computers that students are unaware of, some computer parts help students become more familiar and
autonomous. Additionally, by making concepts simple to understand, computers also simplify
learning. According to Wiley & Sons (2021), The Architecture of Computer Hardware, Systems
Software and Networking is designed help students majoring in information technology (IT) and
information systems (IS) understand the structure and operation of computers and computer-based
devices. Requiring only basic computer skills, this accessible textbook introduces the basic principles
of system architecture and explores current technological practices and trends using clear, easy-to-
understand language.

In a similar vein, Virtudazo (2022),The K to 12 Basic Education Program of the Philippines

emphasizes the importance of the integration of ICT in the teaching and learning process. Teachers are
encouraged to utilize all available ICT resources for the betterment of lesson delivery. Furthermore,

its powers and functions appropriating funds therefor, and for other purposes. We found that the
eighth-grade communications technology students at Maura N. Sibulo National High School needed
to have their familiarity with computer parts increased, based on the survey findings I administered to
them. My study aims to develop novel approaches to teaching and learning.

Project improving the familiarization of grade 8 student in computer hardware servicing project
(PALS) provided interactive on the familiarizing the computer parts in grade 8 ICT students of Maura
N. Sibulo National High School for the academic year 2024-2025. The intervention program was
created to improve the skills and knowledge of ICT students in order to overcome the lack of relevant
experiences. Because this age group, in today’s technologically advanced culture, finds it essential to
gain practical skills. The fact that respondents will be able to acquaint themselves with computer
components and determine who learns more and endures procedures is indicative of the study’s
effectiveness.

STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM

This action research aim is to improve familiarization in computer and hardware servicing parts of
computer of grade 8 students at Maura N. Sibulo National High School for school year 2024-2025,
thus the result and findings of this study was used to craft Peer Assisted Learning Strategy (PALS)

RESEACH PROBLEM

Specifically, the study seeks to answer the following questions:

1.) What is the performance level of the student in computer and hardware servicing.
2.) Is there a significant difference before and after the conduct of t the intervention?
3.) To what extent has the intervention impacted pupils’ familiarity with computer components?
Scope and Delimitation

This study will focus o variables the computer and hardware servicing and Peer Assisted Learning
Strategy (PALS) teaching familiarization Parts of computer at Maura N.Sibulo National High School
academic year 2024-2025.

In this study I will only have 5 respondents from grade 8 karunungan, at Maura N Sibulo National
High School for third quarter. The level of Familiarization of grade 8 student based on their pre-
assessment test. Thus, the result in findings of this study will be used to craft a visual aids, to improve
their familiarization. Visual aids are excellent tools for developing familiarization, Research has
Shawn that teaching using visual aids can help to improve a wide range of skills including thinking
skills and familiarization skills, The respondent of this study will grade 8 student and the excluded
are the remaining other grade level such as grade 7,9-12 are also excluded of the study.

Definition of Terms

To comprehend the study better, the following terms are operationally defined.

Assessment is a foundational skills in research, as it allows researcher to gather the data and evaluate
the effectiveness of their methods or intervention. There are many different types of assessment that
can be used in research, including surveys, interviews, observations and standardized tests. Depending
on the research question and the population being studied, different assessments may be more
appropriate or effective.

Familiarization, Jerusha Poe Yin Chan (2020), in strength generally refers to repeated contractions to
optimize force production and reduce learning effect prior to a maximum strength testing. Lack of
familiarization underestimates the results, while excessive familiarization may produce training effect

,Learning Sessions, learning tutorial process increases the overall academic achievement of students,
especially of those in the sixth semester in comparison with when they were in the 1 st quarter.
Learning sessions used in research include focus groups, interviews, surveys, and observations. Each
of these formats has its own unique benefits and limitations, and researchers should choose the one
that best suit their research goals.

Synthesis of the State of the Art

The difference and similarities of the reviews related studies are essential in the current study. Studies
gathered and reviewed by the researchers provided them with information and insight and contributed
of the present study.

The study of lance Christian (2022), Berlin (2019), Ming Liang (2018), Jopet Vincent (2021), Rex
(2022), Archie (2019), James (2013), Ronald (2020), Urodak (2018), Yvonne Kris (2022) What
connects them together is that they are all similar in that they emphasize computer hardware
maintenance, which helps learners acquire knowledge and critical thinking abilities. All of the
students have in common is that they are all learning and improving their thinking and familiarization
skills. How can students learn from related literature or the same study conducted by various
researchers. These are relevant to the present study because their studies focuses on computer
hardware servicing, effects of computer based training in computer, computer hardware servicing
proficiency, effective improvement, computer hardware system, enhance the knowledge, computer
based training in computer hardware servicing, enhance computer hardware skills, use of technology,
information system, effectiveness in teaching learning process, strategic intervention material,
students academic performance, ICT, e learning, mobile.

My study and the related literature are similar in that the students will discover how to
accomplish their goals by using their own abilities. Above all, they should be aware of the
progress they have made in this study and be able to truly improve their critical thinking and
familiarization skills. It is also necessary for the students taking part in the research we are
conducting to learn in order to address their areas of weakness and enhance them through the
studies we are conducting, and to determine whether their performance in analyzing the
students has changed.

The only difference between my study and the related literature that I got is that I’m doing a
visual aids that has no parallel; they are teaching, but the answer will not be told to every
student who participates in it. That’s why there is something unique to me that is not in RRL:
QUEstion RECite (QUEREC) and Peer Assisted Learning Strategy (PALS)

Based on the content of linked literature, all research investigations conducted to date have been on
computer hardware servicing. According to what was written, a number of the studies discussed were
aimed at enhancing learners’ familiarization and thinking skills, their capacity for familiarization, and
the creation of meaningful learning experiences through the integration of knowledge and teamwork,
reciting portions of computer performance learning abilities, and their capacity for thinking.

The current study was different, though, In that the resources created were meant to help eighth-grade
students become familiar with computer components, with an emphasis on methods for doing so. It
differed in its capacity for thought and familiarization, and it must stimulate learners’ cognitive
abilities in order to use it in the classroom so they can quickly communicate with other learners,

INNOVATION INTERVENTION AND STRATEGY:

Peer tutoring will be incorporated into the study in addition to conventional lectures. This
mixed-method approach is intended to support chosen grade 8 students at Maura N. Sibulo
National High School in the academic year 2023–2024 by accommodating their various
learning preferences, encouraging active engagement, and fostering collaborative learning. It
is anticipated that the peer tutoring program will improve skill acquisition by utilizing the
advantages of peer influence and social learning.

PALS- Through the use of a peer-assistance learning strategy, the respondent and I will
instruct and learn from one another.
QueRest -One of my teaching strategies is Question Recite, in which I ask the student what
portion of the computer they are now using, and they then give me a recitation of the answer.

METHODOLOGY
This action research will employ the descriptive-comparative methods. Descriptive method
will be utilized to determine the profile of the grade 8 Karunungan before and after the
conduct of this research. The comparative design will be use to determine if there is a
significant difference between the performances of the respondents before and after the
conduct of this action research. Systematic random sampling will be applied to determine the
respondents of this study. Thus, the respondents will be the grade 8 students of Maura N.
Sibulo National High School Academic Year 2024-2025. These students will be grade
Karunungan who scored below 12th percentile on the pre-assessment there will be a students
to be as the main respondents of this study.

STATISTICAL TREATMENT

Weighted Mean

The weighted arithmetic mean is similar to an ordinary arithmetic mean (the most common type of
average), except that instead of each of the data points contributing equally to the final average, some
data points contribute more than others. The notion of weighted mean plays a role in descriptive
statistics and also occurs in a more general form in several other areas of mathematics.

Frequency

Frequency means the number of the times that a periodic function repeats the same sequence of values
during a unit variation of the independent variable. It also refers to the number, proportion ,or
percentage of items in a particular category in a set of data ,as mentioned by Merriam Webster since
1828. It will be used to determine the quality of the answer by the respondents for each question.

T-test

the probability distribution of the statistics is important. When samples are drawn from population N
(µ, σ 2) with a sample size of n, the distribution of the sample mean X ̄ should be a normal
distribution N (µ, σ 2/n). Under the null hypothesis µ= µ 0, the distribution of statistics z= X-µ 0 σ/n
should be standardized as a normal distribution.
Review of related literature

De jesus (2019) that This study aims to provide a CHSM Trainer or Computer Hardware Servicing
and Maintenance Trainer for the College of Information and Communication Technology (CICT). The
purpose of this study is to enhance the troubleshooting, system configuration and computer hardware
skills of the CICT Information Technology students. The conclusions of this study were drawn as
follows: (l) The proponents included several peripheral parts for construction of the CHSM Trainer
(2) This project is for the students which can help them in troubleshooting, system configuration
interfacing technique and computer assembling; (3) The CICT has a growing population of students
and many of the students must be familiar with the peripheral parts of a computer. Generally, the
CHSM Trainer can lessen the time consumed in practicing interfacing and troubleshooting inside the
classroom.

In addition, Berlin Malabanan (2019) that The Computer Hardware Servicing program provides
knowledge and skills in diagnosing and troubleshooting problems of personal computer systems,
networks, software, and its parts. As observed, Grade 10 students participated well in various group
activities in their Computer Hardware Servicing class. This prompted the researcher to conduct a
study identifying the Computer Hardware Servicing Proficiency level of Grade 10-Amethyst of
Anilao National High School with the end view of proposing an action plan with intervention
programs and activities to improve their proficiency level.

Moreover, Bisa (2019) that Technology and livelihood Education (TLE), an exploratory subject for
Grade 8 and Grade 8, introduced the different learning activities, which will prepare the students to be
skilled before they take the step into the field of work. The researchers developed a Strategic
Intervention Material (SIM) in Computer Hardware Servicing, an Exploratory Course of Technology
and Livelihood Education (TLE), to bridge the learning gaps in Grade 8 students. Researchers are
trying to find out how Technology and Livelihood Education (TLE) can be taught in such a way that
students will learn the correct measurement and calculation.

Bringula (2023) that This study determined the effects of computer-based training in computer
hardware servicing with a pedagogical agent named “DAC: The data collected in this study showed
that the null hypothesis stating that there is no significant difference in the pretest and posttest scores
of the experimental group can be rejected. The use of the DAC is therefore recommended for students
taking up computer hardware servicing. Implications and recommendations were also discussed.

val (2019), Integration of Learnings in Computer System Subject is one of the way to improve skills
and integrate learnings in CSS subject into other academic subjects in the Sisters of MarySchool-
Boystown Inc. This phenomenological research aimed to determine the learnings of the student in
CSS subject and how did they apply it in other academic subjects and also the researchers aimed to
determine what are the hindrances and how did the students overcome in the said hindrances. The
researchers gather the data through semi-structured interview and questionnaire. The student apply it
through Performance Task, Projects and making a Presentation. The integration of learnings in CSS
subject is very Important on the students in Sisters of MarySchool-Boystown Inc.
