Exercise 4
Choose the correct words to complete the text.
There are a lot of restaurants in our town but only a few of them are popular with teenagers. The others are very
expensive. There are no fast food bars but there is a Chinese takeaway and a great pizza place where we all meet
on Fridays. There are some nice cafés but a coffee costs £2.50 which is too much for me.

Exercise 5
Complete the messages with one word in each gap.
Hi, Luke!
Have a great time at college. Try not to go out too often. It's expensive. Don't worry if you can't cook. In my
experience, other people always help out. You can make a nice meal with some eggs, a bag of salad, bread and
some mayonnaise.
Jim
Luke, enjoy your time at college. Your mum says you're worried about cooking. There are some good websites
with ideas for quick, easy, cheap meals. There are a lot of meals you can try – hundreds of them! Find out
how to cook – it's important!
Annie
Hey Luke,
I hear you want to know about working while at university. It's a good idea. Get a job as a waiter in a restaurant.
It's hard work carrying plates of food from the kitchen to the tables. At the weekends, restaurants are full and
there is no time for a break. But, when customers are happy with your work, they leave great tips – some people
leave £5 or £10. And the restaurant gives you free food!

Exercise 6
Complete the text with the correct words formed from the words in bold.
THE OLD MARKET CAFÉ REVIEW

This is a lovely restaurant. Their speciality (SPECIAL) is sea food and I recommend their fish soup as a
starter (START). It really is delicious. There are also a lot of choices with no meat or fish so it's perfect for
vegetarians (VEGETABLE) too. If you're just a little hungry (HUNGER), try their sandwiches. They're cheap,
fresh and full of healthy ingredients.
They also bake their own delicious and beautiful looking cakes. They aren't the kind of thing a dietician
(DIET) would recommend but are great for people who like sweet things and even better for food
photographers (PHOTOGRAPH) trying to get perfect photos for their websites!
