A HEART TO KNOW ME

Jeremiah 24:7
I will give them a heart to know me, that I am the
Lord; and they shall be my people, and I will be their
God, for they shall return unto me with their whole heart.
HEART – is the center of all feelings/being
WHY WE MUST GUARD OUR HEARTS
I. BECAUSE YOUR HEART IS EXTREMELY
VALUABLE
 We don’t guard worthless things
 Some heart failed --- to love
II. BECAUSE YOUR HEART IS THE SOURCE OF
EVERYTHING YOU DO
 King Solomon says – it is the well-spring of life
 Your heart overflows into thoughts, words, actions.
III. BECAUSE YOUR HEART IS UNDER CONSTANT
ATTACK
 Solomon says – guard you heart
 He implies that you are living in the combat zone.
 Hurt, hatred, anger
Proverbs 23:26
 My son give me thine hearts, and let thine eyes
observe my ways.
HOW TO DEVELOP A HEART FOR GOD
A. BE HUMBLE INSPITE OF SUCCES
 Without doubt David was so successful
 He defeated the giant
 He leads Saul’s armies into bottles with arousing
victories.
B. BE MINDFUL OF THE SHEPHERD
Psalms 34:3
Proclaim the Lord’s greatness, let us exalt his name
together.
 David inquired of the Lord (2 Samuel 21:1)
 He worshipped and lifted up the name of the Lord
C. BE AVAILABLE IN SERVICE
Acts 13:32
God said,” I have found David the son of Jesse a
man after my heart, who will carry out all will.
D. BE REPENTANT OF YOUR SIN
II Samuel 12:13
I have sinned against the Lord.
E. BE TRUSTING IN A SAVIOR
 STRESS – Saul wants to kill David (II Samuel 22:1-
4)
