STUDY PLAN
Language Study Plan (Study plans to improve Korean/English language ability
required for taking a degree course before and after you come to Korea)
In order to support my university study during my master program and to improve
my future career prospects, I am striving to achieve a language proficiency score of
Band 6.5 for IELTS and level 4 or higher for TOPIK. As an initial step in learning the
Korean language and before enrolling in the prepared language training program, I
participated in 10 sessions of Beginner Korean online lessons at Noonbitacademy in
September 2023. Following the lessons, I intend to continue my studies through self-
studying with the Duolingo application and also I will start learning by using the book
"My First 500 Korean Words" with the goal to be able to write and read Korean
alphabet (Hangeul). To enhance my English language skills, I completed the online
learning program "Basic Grammar for IELTS" at Kobi Education from May 17th to
June 9th, 2023, as well as "IELTS Speaking" from November 18th to December 10th,
2023. I plan to continue my studies through self-guided learning utilizing the British
Council website to practice the four skills (Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking)
and vocabulary from level A1. In addition, to deepen my understanding of IELTS, I
utilize the YouTube channels IELTS Liz and IELTS Advantages as supplementary
resources.
Upon my arrival in Korea, I plan to actively participate in Korean language training
program provided by GKS and consistently engage in self-study to enhance my
learning. Additionally, I intend to establish connections with my fellow GKS awardees
in order to have discussion partners and gain diverse motivation during the language
enrichment program. Furthermore, I will focus on improving my English language skills
through self-study using various reputable websites such as BBC Learning, VOA
English, and Breaking News English. My learning approach will involve using the
spaced repetition method and following a weekly planner. I will also regularly evaluate
my learning progress and the resources I utilize, and if I find them ineffective, I will
seek alternative sources to support my learning.

Goal of study & Study Plan (Goal of study and detailed study plan)
The pursuit of my master degree is driven by many factors. Firstly, referring to my
undergraduate background in Social Sciences and my current job as a Customer Service
Import Department. A master degree presents an opportunity to transiti to a different
field of study from my bachelor degree and to expand my knowledge in the area of
work I am currently interested in. Secondly, from my experience in attending workshops
and training for the Customs Broker License Examination preparation, I realize the
importance of developing a solid understanding of technical knowledge, as well as
refining soft skills such as creative problem-solving, teamwork, leadership, and time
management. This will significantly contribute to enhancing future employment
prospects.
Thirdly, my study aims to become a specialist in the field and acquiring a
professional network. Having professional knowledge and being connected to
professionals is essential for pursuing a career as a business development specialist or
international trade consultant and securing employment after graduation. The
professional knowledge mentioned includes an understanding of management and
operations for successful international transactions, a strong understanding of the local
and international logistics market, the capability to identify business opportunities, an
understanding of current global issues in international trade, leading negotiation and
project management. Fourthly, the study presents an opportunity to explore various job
types and a broader career potential that may not have been previously realized. Fifthly,
it aims to contribute to the field of work by empowering micro, small, and medium
enterprises (MSMEs) in Indonesia through learning together about exports. Related to
this, the combination of subjects of academic interest are International Trade and Policy,
Negotiation, International Economics and Business (especially Business in Korea),
International Organization, and relevant practical knowledge in International Trade.
After careful consideration, I have decided to pursue a Master Degree in
International Trade in South Korea. I have selected three prestigious universities: the
Graduate School of International Studies at Pusan National University, the Graduate
School of Pan-Pacific International Studies at Kyung Hee University, and the Graduate
School of International Studies at Ajou University. The universities offer courses that
related to my interest and a lot of programs to support the student. I believe that this
program will help me achieve my academic and professional goals to fulfill my dream
career.
The Graduate School of International Studies (GSIS) offers a diverse and global
learning environment, comprised of individuals from various cultural, national, and
religious backgrounds. This provides a unique opportunity to expand an international
perspective. Situated in Busan, a prominent port city with world-class container
handling facilities, studying at GSIS Pusan National University can be particularly
beneficial in pursuing studies in logistics or trade and prepare students’ readiness to
work well in any workplace in the global market. Meanwhile, Kyung Hee University
offers Summer/Winter Workshops which aim to enhance students' skills and strengthen
communication among department members. Additionally, they provide a Career
Development Internship through a specialized program known as KISS (The Kyung
Hee International Internship Support System), which guides students through successful
completion of their internships, managing the process through identification,
implementation, and evaluation. Conversely, Ajou University hosts a range of students’
activities such as NUBI Ajou, International Symposiums, and special lectures. NUBI
Ajou is designed to support cross-cultural friendships among international students and
to encourage language and cultural exchange through various events, including the
Korean-Buddy matching program, conferences, and campus tours. The International
Symposiums and special lectures offer students the chance to present and exchange
ideas on current issues, facilitated by distinguished guests and alumni, providing
valuable practical knowledge and explore different career paths.
The duration of this scholarship program is approximately three years with the time
table listed below:
First Year (2024-2025): Korean Language Program
▪ Fall 2024
In the fall of 2024, it is advisable to practice writing Hangeul and reading simple
words until mastering the alphabet. Additionally, basic conversation practice related to
daily activities such as greetings, self-introduction, buying, and ordering food are
recommended. It is important to understand basic grammar in the form of simple
sentence structures and comprehension of different types of words (nouns, verbs,
adjectives, and adverbs), as well as learning vocabulary related to common
conversation topics such as oneself, hobbies, and family.
▪ Winter 2024
It is important to become familiar with the TOPIK test and to continue practicing
reading Hangeul regularly. This can be achieved by making a habit of reading every
Hangeul script encountered outside. Furthermore, engaging in conversation practice
related to daily activities such as making phone calls, seeking assistance, and using
public facilities are advisable. It is also important to understand the use of language
related to speaking levels (formal and informal) and to work on improving vocabulary
related to ourself, hobbies, family, emotions, and transportation. Finally, the goal
should be taking TOPIK test with the objective passing TOPIK Level 2.
▪ Spring 2025
I will be preparing for the TOPIK II exam. As part of my preparations, I plan to
independently travel around Korea to apply and reinforce what I have been learning in
class. This includes practicing using public transportation, visiting cafes, and
purchasing clothing. Additionally, I will be watching Korean dramas without subtitles
to enhance my listening skills and broaden my vocabulary. I am also working on
understanding the proper usage of language for present and past tenses. Furthermore, I
will be engaging in conversation practice to expand my vocabulary in areas such as
college life, weekend activities, banking, shopping, and health. Finally, I will be taking
a mock test to assess my readiness for the TOPIK II exam.
▪ Summer 2025
In the summer of 2025, I will be conducting an assessment of the TOPIK II Mock
Test. This will involve a thorough examination of social conversation topics, Korean
culture, and various idioms through the use of podcasts. Additionally, we will be
honing our skills in understanding simple topics by engaging with news and
newspapers. My ultimate goal is to take TOPIK II test and achieve a score of TOPIK
Level 4.
Second Year (2025-2026): Master in International Trade
During my first year in the Master degree program, I aim to prioritize my academic
pursuits while also honing a diverse set of skills. Within the academic realm, I intend to
actively engage in teaching methods, working with others in group projects, taking on
roles in discussions and analyzing case studies. Through these experiences, I aim to
cultivate personal attributes such as flexibility, self confidence, and resilience. My goal
is to maintain a GPA of 3.0 or above and graduate through the non-thesis track,
requiring me to complete more credits from elective courses. Furthermore, I am
preparing to take the TOPIK II test and strive to attain proficiency at level 5. In addition
to my studies, I plan to partake in extracurricular activities, volunteer work, and
involvement in various students’ activities. Through these non-academic pursuits, I
endeavor to develop soft skills such as teamwork, leadership, communication, time
management, and problem-solving capabilities. The university offers various programs
and activities to support international students, and I am eager to engage in these
opportunities in order to deepen my understanding of Korean culture and language.
Third Year (2026-2027): Master in International Trade
In my final year, I will focus on completing credit courses and plan to explore
opportunities such as seeking a job after my graduation. I intend to take advantage of
the various support programs offered by the university to assist in my job search post-
graduation. With this in mind, I will become acquainted with the university career
center and seek guidance on planning for my professional future. Additionally, I will
allocate time each week to engage in pre-job preparation activities, such as creating a
LinkedIn profile, practicing interviews, and attending career events to expand my
professional network. If applicable, I will also participate in winter/summer workshops,
international symposiums, and special lectures to broaden my global perspective and
explore career prospects related to my master degree. Furthermore, I will conduct
research on companies and pursue internships to gain relevant work experience. Lastly,
I will prepare for and take the TOPIK II test with the goal of achieving a Level 6 score,
as well as aiming for an IELTS Band Score of 6.5 or higher.

Future Plan after Study (Future plan in Korea or another country after finishing
GKS program)
In the short term (1-2 years), I intend to continue working in South Korea to apply
the knowledge and skills I have acquired at the university. While working in Korea, I
will actively seek opportunities to work in my home country as a business development
specialist or international trade consultant.
In the medium term, which I anticipate to be within the next 2-5 years, I plan to
return to Indonesia and secure a position as a business development specialist or
international trade consultant, or in a related industry, in order to expand my expertise.
Additionally, I aim to collaborate with my friends who are graduates of English
Literature and Psychology to establish a non-governmental organization in my
hometown. Our focus will be on developing proficient learning techniques and
programs. Furthermore, I intend to explore opportunities to contribute to organizations
or institutions that advocate for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in
Indonesia.
The long-term objective (5-beyond) is to establish a non-governmental organization
(NGO) that focuses on children's education with three specific programs. Firstly, one
program aims to facilitate children's access to books. Secondly, the program aims to
offer short and long courses for junior high school students to learn basic English and
basic Korean language, as well as gain an introduction to Korean culture. The goal of
this program is to inspire and develop an interest in language learning, which can be a
valuable asset in obtaining scholarships both domestically and internationally. The third
program aims to provide high school students with information about various
professions and college majors (particularly International Trade major). This program is
designed to offer every student who aspires to pursue higher education at the university
level with a comprehensive overview of the subjects they will study and the diverse
professions related to their majors. Additionally, it is my hope that this initiative will
cultivate a strong desire and motivation among the children in my home town to pursue
a high education up to the university level.
