I. INTRODUCTION

The Omani Examination for Emergency Medicine (OEEM) is focused on assessing critical thinking
and decision-making of emergency medicine candidates to effectively manage a wide range of
urgent and emergent medical conditions, ensuring proper utilization of resources and providing
timely and high-quality patient care. This examination is conducted for emergency medicine
candidates who are applying for a job in the local healthcare institutions.

II. PURPOSES

1. To ensure that emergency medicine candidates have the competencies to practice safely.
2. To be used as eligibility criteria for employment in Oman for emergency medicine candidates.

III. REGISTRATION

3. Select Occupational Classification Testing Section
4. Click on “Online Services”
5. Visit Pearson VUE website to schedule, reschedule and cancel your exam
(https://home.pearsonvue.com/omsb)
6. Payment of examination fee: 220 USD

IV. EXAMINATION FORMAT

1. The examination consists of 100 single best answer multiple-choice questions (MCQs).

2. The examination covers 21 domains designed to measure the competencies of an emergency


medicine candidate: pediatrics; resuscitation; cardiology; trauma, toxicology;
endocrinology/metabolic; environment; administration, ethics, practice issues, and research;
gynecology, infectious disease; neurology; orthopedics; respiratory; special population;
gastrointestinal; hematopathology/oncology/immunology; nephrology/urology; surgery/plastic;
dental/ear, nose and throat (ENT)/ophthalmology/dermatology; emergency medical services
(EMS), disaster; and psychiatry.

3. The duration of examination is 2 hours and 30 minutes.

VII. VENUE OF EXAMINATION

a) For those residing in Oman, the venue will be at Oman Medical Specialty Board.
b) For those residing outside Oman, the examination will be conducted in Pearson VUE
centers worldwide.

VIII. RELEASE OF RESULTS

The results of the examination will be emailed to the candidates via their registered email
within 24 hours after completion of the examination.
