Cheating Best Practices
 Activate one cheat at a time
 Turn off cheat after using
 Use a US version FireRed ROM if possible
 Use recommended GBA emulators, GBA4ios
(iOS), My Boy (Android) and Visual Boy
Advance (Windows),
and RetroArch/mGBA (Mac OS)
 Save the current game state before activating
any of the listed cheats
 After activating a cheat – Check your bag; if
you notice irregularities, DON’T save the
game
 Cheats may still work even after deactivation.
If that happens, save progress, close your
emulator, and reopen the game
 In some cases, some cheats do not work
after enabling. You can try going in and out of
any doors/entrances at least 5 times and
check your PC again to see the item.

selected cheats. You are welcome to do your own
experiment, but make sure to save progress before
proceeding.
Note to GBA4iOS Users
A commenter with the nickname Problem Solver just
posted some very useful information regarding fixes
and other information you need to know if you are
using GBA4iOS. Read carefully.

Hey everybody, so this is just a brief

introduction and solution to a variety of the
glitches you may encounter while using the
codes and how to fix them to enhance your
gameplay.

If you are using GBA4IOS V2.1 or any other

emulator that enables the codes to work
(Please keep in mind that several versions of
the emulators you are using such as Myboy,
JohnGBA, or VBA emulator may be outdated
versions so not all codes may register
depending on what emulator you are using.

Also, versions of the games you have

downloaded do not register all of the codes
for them to work. It is recommended you use
versions 1.0 squirrels version of fire red or
US version. If you’re having difficulty with a
code that won’t work, drop a comment, and
I’ll help you out any way I can.)
1.) Pokémon Modifier and encounter code.
(Only input the 2nd master code for GBA4IOS
users then input the encounter code
afterward if you input them in any other
sequence they won’t work!!!) So when using
this code, of course, you will be able to run
into any Pokémon as long as you type in the
code and encounter code correctly. While
using this code sometimes the Pokémon you
want to catch may result in 1 hit KO’ing your
Pokémon.

To fix this error simply delete the code or

disable it, go to a Pokémon center restore
your Pokémon by talking to the person
behind the counter and then enter a battle
with any wild Pokémon the glitch should be
gone if the problem persists still delete the
code and reinput it again. If the Pokémon
appear like a huge question mark with the
name “??????” It means the encounter code
is wrong, double check just to be safe.

Also, as a side note if the Pokémon you

caught using this code when evolving stays
on the message “…?” Simply release it from
your PC and catch it again recommended you
use the Experience code to get back to the
level you were at.
2.) Infinite Exp code. Using this code
sometimes causes your Pokémon to keep
leveling up even after you’ve disabled the
code from the menu. The reason this occurs
is due to a slight error in the registering of
the code after you used it.

For example, if you have the code enabled

and you save the game, then return to it,
later on, to play again even after you
disabled the code. The game registers the
code as still active resulting in endless level
ups to fix this just delete the code wait for
the level up of the Pokémon to finish and
then save and restart your game and reinput
the code all over again to stop the endless
increase in level.

3.) Catching and stealing Pokémon from

trainers. It is recommended you save before
using this code so that if your game becomes
corrupt or freezes, you have a point of save
origin to refer back to. Now then this glitch
typically occurs after you catch a trainers
Pokémon watch the video that’s posted first
to know how to use the code. Now, to solve
this issue, unfortunately, there is no way to
get around the bad eggs when you catch a
trainers Pokémon.
If caught correctly, the bad egg will not
show, but in case it does simply delete the
code and then restart your game from your
save point. Do not save the game if a bad egg
appears or it will ruin your game completely.
Definitely check your PC as well after you’ve
caught the trainers Pokémon because
sometimes the bad eggs may not show up in
your Pokémon line up but maybe in the PC
box for some odd reason.

4.) Pokémon level modifier. So there really

isn’t a huge variety of problems with this
code, but I recently ran into one which is
that when using the code sometimes when
you go back to edit the code lets say from Lv
30 to encounter a Pokémon at lv 60 it will
keep showing Pokémon at Lv 30.

When you encounter that error, it’s because

the game registered the code Lv 30
permanently simply delete the code and
reinput it to encounter whatever Level of
Pokémon you are searching for.

Got any other glitches that I didn’t cover on

here? Drop a comment below, and I’ll help
you out as much as I can. Good luck
everyone, hope this answers some questions
you all might be having or some issues you
all may be experiencing.

Unfortunately, some cheats will not work for you,

specifically those with multiple-liner cheat codes. You
need the paid version of the app for it to work fully.

However, there’s a simple solution to this problem you

only need to enter those lines of code as a separate
cheat. I created a guide explaining all the details on
how to do the trick; check out How To Enable
Multiple-Liner Cheat Codes on My Boy Free Version or
watch this Youtube video to see the tutorial in
action.

Frequently Asked Questions

How to Use Cheats in Pokemon Fire Red

Open your GBA emulator settings function, access the

cheat feature, and add the cheat codes. Cheat types
can be GameShark, Action Replay, or CodeBreakears.
Many popular GBA emulators, including Visual Boy
Advance, MyBoy, mGBA, and RetroArch, offer this
feature, which is easy to use.

How to Use Cheats on Myboy Emulator

Tap on the menu icon, tap “Cheats” and tap on “New
Cheat” to add a new cheat. Enter desired cheat name
and the appropriate cheat code. The cheat type must
be set to “Auto Detect” as MyBoy can automatically
select the proper cheat type for you.

What is the reason for cheats not functioning in Pokemon

FireRed?

There are multiple reasons why cheats may not work,

but one of the most common issues is the ROM
version. If you have FireRed V1.1, it’s possible that
cheats will not function properly.

We have made an improvement to our list of codes.

Luckily, and with the help of the community, we were
able to discover the working Pokemon encounter code
for FireRed V1.1.

How to Use Cheats on Visual Boy Advance Emulator

In your VBA cheats menu, click on “Cheats”, and

select “Cheat list” to open the VBA cheating function.
Choose the appropriate cheat type, and select either

the cheat.

Conclusion
The majority of these cheats have been tested by the
Pokemoncoders team and are 100% compatible with
the Pokemon FireRed (US) Squirrels version or FireRed
V1.0. Try searching for and downloading the FireRed
(US) Squirrels version if it doesn’t work.

Hi love this page and appreciate your efforts.

I am using same spec as Xantos and he’s right

that all is good until your try to catch one of the
pokemon. I had previously used the masterballs
cheat, but it’s turned off and even went to buy
some great balls in case it was that corrupting it
but no dice.

Would appreciate some guidance or an update

when you’re able.

Thanks again,

Hello I’m using the delta emulator for fire red and
used the unlimited master balls. Is there anyway
to reverse it so I can have room for other items in
my pc? Currently stuck on the part where bill is
supposed to give you the S.S ticket but can’t

Hi Xantos, thank you for coming here and
sharing the information. If your screen goes
black perhaps there are other cheats
enabled besides the Pokemon modifier
cheat? If yes, make sure to leave only one
cheat enabled. I’m not familiar with the
emulator you mentioned (Will test it soon),
but hopefully it fully supports cheating.
Anyway, let me know if my suggestion
helps.

I figured this one out when the
pokemon you want appears
pause go back into the cheats
and turn off the cheats that
made it appear then you can
catch it. So turn the master
codes off and turn off the
pokemon encounter cheat
then you can catch it (: I
ended up getting same
emulator for phone since my
anbernic wouldn’t let me lol

Codes to boost the stats of a pokemon: attack
820242DE YYYY
DEFENSE 820242E0 YYYY
SP. ATTACK
820242E4 YYYY
SP.DEFENSE 82024E6 YYYY
SPEED 82024E2 YYYY. Replace the YYYY with the
number of stats you want to put on your pokemon.
For example, if I have a caterpie with very weak
stats and I want to put them at 30 or 50 or 100,
just put: 001E: 30 stats 0032: 50 stats 0064 : 100
stats: And that’s it,

Same for speed, you forgot the 2 before the
E2 again so 82024E2
Should actually be: 820242E2

Reply

Ace
April 16, 2024 at 9:48 AM
You forgot the 2 before E6 Sp Def and the 2
before E2 speed, it won’t work without it so
correction to help people is:
SP.DEFENSE 820242E6
SPEED 820242E2

And replacing YYYY with 01CB will give

you 459 for players who want super high
stats on their speed or the other stats you
mentioned, cause it works with all of
them :).
You forgot to put the 2 before the E2 and
E6, it won’t work otherwise. Not sure if my
other reply’s will post as they acted like
they goofed up so posting more in depth :).

For some reason the wild pokemon modifier isn’t
working I tried all combination of master codes
listed for both versions that were listed and it just
won’t work for me I keep getting rattatas and
pidget instead of bulbasaur lol I even tried turning
on all the master codes and the bulbasaur code
and no go any advice? I’m playing on a gba
emulator that came on my anbernic. It’s weird
because the masterball and the exp share cheats
did work just fine

Hey Robert, I’m not familiar with your GBA
emulator, but if the master ball and exp
share cheats work perfectly, then there’s a
good chance that the wild Pokémon
modifier cheat will work too. Just make
sure to figure out which version you have
(v1.0 or v1.1) and add the correct
mastercode. Sometimes, certain emulators
need to be restarted for the changes made
in the cheat settings to take effect, so that
might be worth a shot as well. Hope my
answer helps.

Hi so I think I may have found my
problem the cheats that have
multiple lines
My emulator won’t let me hit return
to add a separate line so I can only
enter 1 line. I’m trying adding
multiple cheats with all the lines but
it doesn’t seem to work still and I’m
not sure how to get around that I’m
considering a new emulator

Try entering the cheat as one
line. Even if the cheat has
multiple lines, it can still work
when added as one line. Give

Master code (Add this first)

000014D1 000A
1003DAE6 0007

83007EEC 0006
33007CF0 000A
33007CF1 001F
33007CF2 0002
“33007CF3 0002”

F3:02 = Modest Nature

What code would be for the firm, happy, fearful

We are currently working to resolve
the issue regarding the codes for the
Pokémon’s nature. In the meantime,
you have a couple of options. You
could remove the code line related
to nature and receive a randomly
assigned nature for your Pokemon,
or you could try experimenting with
different codes to see if you can
achieve the desired result.

To change the level at which it appears you
have to change this line of code

33007CF0 000A

000A: is in hexadecimal base

0006: it is a nominal base that would be 6

for level 100 it would be 0064

33007CF0 0064

Shy cheat, can you use the Pokemon modifier

Avoid using multiple cheats simultaneously
to prevent game glitches. You can make
your starter Pokémon shiny by activating
the shiny cheat before obtaining it, then
disabling the cheat after receiving it. I have

Theres an issue with the shiny cheat code, while
it does work for me, for some reason all
pokemons encountered are male, no way to get
female (and it doesnt work together with the
female only wild pokemon cheat) but also for
some reason the game treats the shiny pokemons
caught through this cheat as TRADED pokemon,
they seem to obey 10 lvls below your current
badge, anymore than that and they wont obey,
they also recieve boosted xp for some reason and
you cant change their nicknames through name
rater cause that doesnt work if pokemon is traded
from different language than your game which
pokemons caught through that cheats apparently
are.
The improved catchrate cheat doesnt work
together with: shiny cheat, 1dollar item in market
cheat

Thank you for coming here, Myiuri.
Regrettably, the shiny cheat is notorious
for being buggy. It is highly advisable not to
breed a Pokémon that has been obtained
using cheats. Pairing cheats with other
cheats can lead to random freezing or
crashing of your game. I hope this
information has been helpful to you.

Okay so i figured it out this worked for me Using
the US Fire red version 1.1 on VBA (visual boy)

Enter THIS master code FIRST (leave it enabled)

MASTER CODE
3AF85ACA C4D18CEC
8E883EFF 92E9660D

Then you enter in THIS master code: (leave

enabled)

4D83B1BF E0F5F507
8E883EFF 92E9660D
B6C5368A 08BE8FF4
90B4977C C0151DC2

THEN you put in your chosen pokemon code

example:

83007CEE 0004 = Charmander

This allowed them to finally start appearing, so

just wanted to clarify.

ALSO FOR ITEMS:

My items were not at the store they were in my
PC, this INCLUDES the TM/HM so check your PC if
you cannot find them in your store or bag, they
should be there.

Which FireRed rom version are you using?
Because V1.1 will not work in this game.
We compiled a list of information with
regards to cheat issues and solutions in
this page
here https://www.pokemoncoders.com/fix-
gameshark-cheats-not-working/ and
hopefully this will help you.

I’m using VisualBoyAdvance, but when I go to the
cheat menu, it doesn’t allow me to activate the
cheat list. Why is this, and how can I make it
usable?

Thank you for being here, Anon! Could you
please let me know which version of VBA
you are using? I’d like to recommend a
version that works for me. You may find
this
version https://www.pokemoncoders.com/v
isual-boy-advance-download/ useful,
especially if you are interested in cheating.
Let me know if this works for you.

Hello everyone! For all MGBA users I’ve
discovered how to travel to birth island in the
game so excited to share this with you all please
follow these instructions step by step!
STEP 1 in the pokemart where you see that little
piece of paper on the bottom next to the person in
the pokemart input these words in the following
sequence: “Link Together with all” save then
restart your game.
STEP 2
“0E12F25C BC489609
141BB87C 83D7018F
7A063220 5D82DF58
641B9F5D 3A0D0482” Enter this code and then
enter a wild battle and run from it to purchase
aurora Ticket at a pokemart for free. After you
purchase deactivate the code and restart.
STEP 3
Enter this code first it is the master code.
“72BC6DFB E9CA5465
A47FB2DC 1AF3CA86”
After you enter the master code enter this code it
is the one you’ll need to enable the location to
birth island.
“8D671FD9 6F6BEFF2
78DA95DF 44018CB4″
STEP 4
After you enabled those codes enter a battle
trainer or wild Win it and save the game. After you
do this it is important that you load the ROM file
instead of restarting it or it will not work. Hope
this helps you guys enjoy the game after beating
the league happy hunting for deoxy’s! If you want
me to post the Mystic ticket codes as well let me
know!
