Planning a novel

1. Idea and Conceptualization

chapter or segmented by major plot points.
Conflict: Highlight the central conflicts driving the story.
Subplots: Plan any secondary storylines that complement or contrast
the main plot.
Twists and Turns: Consider pivotal moments, surprises, or reveals.
4. Setting and World-building
Setting: Describe the primary locations and their significance.
World-building: Detail any unique aspects of the world or society
your story takes place in.

5. Research and Details


Research: List any topics or subjects you need to research for
authenticity.
Details: Consider specific elements (historical, technological, cultural)
necessary for your story.

6. Writing Style and Point of View


Narration: Decide on the narrative voice (first person, third person,
multiple perspectives, etc.).
Tone: Determine the overall tone of your novel (serious, humorous,
dark, etc.).
Style: Consider the writing style that suits your story best.

7. Key Scenes and Moments


Major Scenes: Identify key scenes crucial to the story's development.
Turning Points: Highlight moments where the story takes a significant
turn.
Climax: Plan the climax and resolution of the story.
8. Drafting and Revision Strategy
Writing Schedule: Set a realistic writing schedule or milestones.
Revision Plan: Outline how you'll revise and edit your work once the
draft is complete.
