REAL TIME PROJECT

TEMPERATURE CONTROLLED
DC FAC USING IC 741
Introduction
We are going to make one of the simplest projects of a temperature-controlled fan. When there will be
changes in the temperature this circuit will turn on and off a DC fan accordingly. This circuit has a lot of
applications in everyday life as well as in electronic projects. The main component of this circuit is an
op-amp IC i.e., LM741. LM741 has low power consumption and is provided with short circuit and
overload protection. For temperature sensing purposes we have used a thermistor
Hardware components
1. Thermistor
2. Operational Amplifier IC 741
3. DC Fan (12V)
4. Potentiometer
5. Diode 1N4007
6. Resistor (4.7k,47Ω)
7. Transistor BD140,etc..,
CIRCUIT DIAGRAM:

Using op-amp, finally the circuit below is implemented and a temperature controlled DC fanwas designed.F
WORKING
When the temperature of the surroundings increases and attains the threshold, then the
operational amplifier gives differential voltage turns ON the transistor. As a result, the
connected DC fan gets ground supply and runs. If the temperature level goes below the
set threshold level, then op-amp IC produces zero output, hence Q1 remains in OFF
condition and so does the DC fan.
ADVANTAGES:
Temperature-controlled DC fans offer a balance
between efficient cooling, reduced noise levels, and
enhanced reliability, making them a preferred choice in
various applications ranging from computer cooling
systems to industrial machiner
They adjust their speed according to the temperature,
which means they consume less energy when the
cooling demand is lower. This can result in significant
energy savings compared to constant-speed fans.

DISADVANTAGES:
The temperature control range of DC fans may not
always match the requirements of the application. In
some cases, the range of temperature adjustment
may be too narrow or too wide, leading to suboptimal
cooling performance or energy efficiency.
Applications and uses :
This can be used in various projects
where cooling is required

Power supply circuits

Audio amplifier circuits
Ventilation devices
Cooling systems
Power generation circuits
Dust collection device
PC, Laptops, etc.
Conclusion
This project elaborates the design and
construction of fan speed control system to
control the room temperature.
The temperature sensor was carefully
chosen to gauge the roomtemperature.
Moreover, the fan speed will increase
automatically if the temperature of the
roomincreases.
