Tweet Thread

A popular, highly engaging/retweeted piece of content on Twitter is a “Thread”.

A Thread on Twitter is a series of connected Tweets allowing you to provide additional context or
an extended piece of text by connecting multiple Tweets together.

EXAMPLE: We are all about REPURPOSING content at Coursenvy. Why just create a piece of
content for one platform! For example, we will write a blog post, then we will create a PowerPoint
video of that blog post’s main points for YouTube, then we will create a Thread of Tweets using all
these blog post’s main points!

Coursenvy® www.Coursenvy.com
Write your first
Tweet, then click
the “+” button to
add a Tweet,
therefore creating
a “Thread”.

Coursenvy® www.Coursenvy.com
Add as many Tweets as
you need for your
Thread (remember, 280
characters per Tweet).

Once ready, click the

“Tweet all” button.

➢ Use highly searched keywords and
hashtags in your tweets.
➢ Retweet other users great content
(such as great Threads).
➢ Lead discussions on topics important to
your industry.

PRO TIP: Trending

Tweet about what is Trending via the Explore page to get new users to discover you via the
trending keyword or #hashtag you included in your Tweet.

EXAMPLE:

The #1 trending hashtag today is

#KpopVZ

The #2 trending keyword is

Scottie

Tweet your own opinion

on these topics and/or reply to
other users Tweets!

What To Tweet → Images/Videos
➢ Share images and videos in your Tweets!
➢ 1024 x 512 pixels is the optimal image size.
➢ Maximum file size is 512MB and 2 minutes 20 seconds or less for videos uploaded to
a Tweet. MP4 and MOV video formats are supported.
➢ Tweet engagement is always higher when I share media (typically 200%-300% higher
for my clients!)

Coursenvy® www.Coursenvy.com
Pin a Tweet

Pin a Tweet to the top of your profile!

➢ An upcoming event

➢ A new announcement or product/service

➢ A tweet that summarizes your brand and mission

➢ A tweet that is a Value Proposition + Call to Action

PRO TIP: I like to include something for free, such as a link to my “free course” that I will capture
the users email in exchange for… which I can then use to email future sales promos to!

Coursenvy® www.Coursenvy.com
How to Pin a Tweet

Click the top right

corner menu of a
past Tweet.

Coursenvy® www.Coursenvy.com
How to Pin a Tweet

In that Tweet menu,

click the “Pin to your
profile” option.

This will replace my

current Pinned Tweet
that appears at the top
of my profile feed, with
this Tweet.

Coursenvy® www.Coursenvy.com
Call to Action in Tweets
1. How can you phrase your tweet to appeal to someone’s curiosity?
2. What word choices will nudge a person’s desire for self-improvement?
3. ASK for what you want! Tweets that tell your customer what you want get drastically higher
action. EXAMPLE: Retweet this… Like this if you want XYZ… Reply telling me XYZ…

Client Case Study

➢ We have a client that sells shoes made by artisans

in a 3rd world country. So our first step for them
was to go review the competition and then
engage with their following!

➢ @TOMS shoes is very similar to our clients brand,

so the first thing I will do is go to their Twitter
profile, then click their “Followers” link.

Coursenvy® www.Coursenvy.com
Since these users
follow a brand
similar to yours,
they are the
perfect people to
engage with so
they check out
your brand’s
profile!

Coursenvy® www.Coursenvy.com
This is a great task to outsource
for cheap on Fiverr.com or
Upwork.com

Have your freelancer Follow, Like

a few of the users Tweets, and
Reply to a few of the users
Tweets (something as simple as
“nice tweet!”).

By doing this, the user will be

notified of your engagement with
them and therefore check out
your profile and hopefully follow
you back or check out your
website (this strategy works
30-40% of the time for us!)

Client Case Study
➢ Next we want to get “influencers” to share our Tweets.

➢ An influencer is a user on social media who has the power to influence the purchase
decisions of their followers because of their authority, knowledge, fame, or relationship
with their audience.

➢ Search for influencers relevant to your brand. This can truly be anyone with an engaged
following that would also be interested in your product. Typically I avoid reaching out to
competitors because they obviously won’t retweet you; rather I seek out any bloggers,
adjacent product/service brand, celebrity/social star, etc.

➢ Once you find a potential influencer, go to their Twitter profile, then click the “Tweets &
replies” option at the top of their Twitter profile feed.

Coursenvy® www.Coursenvy.com
For my first search I will try
“fashion blogger”. I will look
under “People” to find
relevant users. A Tweet
from an influencer about
my client’s shoe brand will
likely result in sales!

Let’s try this first one

@FbloggersUK

Coursenvy® www.Coursenvy.com
Click on the “Tweets &
replies” option on this users
profile page.

Coursenvy® www.Coursenvy.com
Notice that this user has
retweeted other brands in
the past (i.e. this dress
brand).

This is very telling that they

will Retweet our client’s
shoe brand if we mimic the
style/wording of past posts
they have retweeted.

Coursenvy® www.Coursenvy.com
How to Tweet @ Twitter Users

Click the “Tweet” button

while on a specific users
profile page in order to
“Tweet at them”... this means
your Tweet will show up on
their Notifications →
Mentions page.

Coursenvy® www.Coursenvy.com
Tweet @ ANY Twitter User
➢ By composing a Tweet that includes the “@” sign and then the Twitter users “username”,
you will post a Tweet that will notify this user of the “mention”.
➢ If you START your tweet with an @USERNAME this Tweet will ONLY post to your own
profiles “Tweets & replies” page (NOT your main Tweets feed page).

Coursenvy® www.Coursenvy.com
Contact Anybody on Twitter

➢ This is what I really love about Twitter as you can truly contact ANYONE without having to
go through their “gatekeeper” first (i.e. a celebrities agent would stop you if you tried to call
or email the celebrity… BUT Twitter enables you to Tweet/talk directly to them!)

Coursenvy® www.Coursenvy.com
Notice the @FbloggersUK in my Tweet?
This will notify them of the mention and
Include Users in Tweets hopefully they will retweet your Tweet.

If they don’t, I like to follow up with them

a few days later. You can do this via a
Twitter direct message or emailing them.
I’ll ask them how we can get them to
Tweet our product (or share it on other
social media channels as well). Such as
for a fee or product/service trade, etc.

Coursenvy® www.Coursenvy.com
Twitter Direct Messages

Note that not all Twitter

accounts enable the
messaging option and many
shut it off once that get a
large following.

Coursenvy® www.Coursenvy.com
Click the “More”
option in the left
sidebar. Select
“Settings”. Select
“Privacy and safety”.
Click the “Direct
Messages” option to
turn on/off your
Twitter message.

Twitter Spaces

➢ Spaces are live audio conversations on

Twitter. Compare these to a live podcast or
live “Ask Me Anything” interview.
➢ Invite people to join by Tweeting or DMing
users (it is common to announce a Twitter
Spaces time earlier in the day as a Tweet to
your followers).
➢ As the Spaces “Host” (creator), you can
invite guests to speak directly in your Space.
➢ On your Twitter mobile app, tap the
“Twitter Spaces” button (microphone icon)
in the bottom navbar, then tap the Create
Space option.
