4.Analyzing Character
Element of Day Masters

By looking at the Day Master (i.e. the Heavenly Stem of the Day Pillar)
alone, we’re already able to tell a great deal about the strengths and
weaknesses of the person whose BaZi Chart we’re analyzing - as well as
his/her likes and dislikes. In other words, we are already able to analyze
the character of this person!

Wood Day Master

In BaZi, Jia 甲 and Yi 乙 fall under the Wood category. Wood Day Masters
are usually straight and set in their ways - and can be quite difficult to
change or persuade. But you may be surprised to know that they can
be quite sentimental as well - plants and trees usually never stray far
from where they have first been planted and grew. As such, Wood Day
Masters like stability and dislike to be uprooted or moved about. It is
this rooting though that gives them their steadfast attitude and diehard
perseverance, and they will usually find at least some small measure of
success in their lives. Of course, these are the general characteristics of
Wood Day Masters - although the manifestations and magnitude of these
characteristics can still differ, depending on whether it’s a Jia (Yang) Wood
Day Master or Yi (Yin) Wood Day Master we are dealing with!

Fire Day Master

Fire Day Masters are usually warm, friendly, expressive, passionate and
even compassionate. But because there’s a significant deal of difference
between Bing 丙 Fire and Ding 丁 Fire, it would be best to analyze them
separately. A Bing Fire Day Master - like the sun - radiates warmth, and
can be very vibrant and vivacious in appearance. They also tend to be
sincere, just and noble, without a hidden agenda. While they may be
proud and even egoistic, they are not the type to harbor grudges and will
passionately fight or champion a cause they believe to be worthy. Bing
Fire Day Masters are often routine-oriented, although this means they can
eventually become bored with their jobs or work!

Ding Fire Day Masters, being Yin in polarity, tend to be natural leaders
and great motivators. They can also rise to the occasion when needed,
and are meticulous, detail-oriented and sentimental by nature. Don’t be
surprised though, if a Ding Fire Day Master becomes de-motivated by him/
herself - simply because this person was to busy igniting the proverbial
fire in others, whilst forgetting to light his/her own fire!

4.Analyzing Character
Element of Day Masters

Earth Day Master

Silence is golden, and Earth Day Masters best illustrate this example.
Earth Day Masters are quiet and tough, and can therefore be trusted to
keep secrets or act as confidantes. This of course means that they are
also sincere in their intentions, and equally wise in their thoughts. They
just don’t yield or share their thoughts easily, though. Wu 戊 Earth Day
Masters make dependable and steady friends, although they can also be
quite stubborn and unwavering in their stance. Ji 己 Earth Day Masters are
productive, tolerant and resourceful, and tend to be more understanding
of the weaknesses and fallacies of others. They however lack the ability
to make quick, spontaneous decisions when needed - due to their lack of
adaptability.

Metal Day Master

Tough, just, righteous, fair and square just about describe Metal Day
Masters best. Of course, if we’re able to identify the characteristics
inherent of Geng 庚 Day Masters and Xin 辛 Day Masters, all the better!
Geng Metal people are tough, able to withstand adversity and hardship,
and will usually prefer to take matters into their own hands and do things
themselves - to ensure that the results are to their liking. Nevertheless,
they are also altruistic and magnanimous, and value their relationship
with loved ones highly. You can definitely guess that they have strong
characters! Xin Metal people are attention-grabbers - they like being
in the limelight, and being the showcase of the event. While they may
seem tough and even obstinate, the subtle, gentle approach works best
in getting them to listen to you - or your advice. And just like their Geng
Metal counterparts, they can be sentimental and loving!

Water Day Master

In the study of Chinese Metaphysics, the Water element usually pertains to
intelligence, wisdom and IQ. Water of course is also known for its ability
to move, flow and change forms. And Water is capable of harboring a
thousand and one secrets. There are 2 types of Water Day Masters: Ren
壬 Water and Gui 癸 Water. Of the two, Ren Water people are usually
robust and on the move (in the process, they may become distracted easily,
though). Intelligent and adaptive, they are virtually unstoppable when they
put their mind to a task! They can however be rather rebellious and non-
conformist. Gui Water Day Masters tend to be imaginative and creative,
and make good teachers and educationists. They are also not the type to
remain still, although they are usually introverted by nature.
