Stockman found that the town’s main source of income, the convalescence water, was contaminated,
causing users to suffer from typhoid fever and stomach problems. Because of his discovery, he drew
censorship from the people and was declared the "enemy of the people." Stockman is the only honest person
in public life in this city. When he realized that all his colleagues were willing to conceal the fact that the
toilet was contaminated, he was first surprised and then angry. He refused to spread his message through the
media or public meetings, and eventually held a meeting at the home of Captain Horst. However, before
Stockman's speech, the organization elected a chairman Aslaksen, who allowed Stockman's brother, the
mayor, Peter, to propose a motion prohibiting doctors from commenting on the bathroom issue because the
report was unreliable. . And the hype can go abroad. Second Aslaksen moved the movement. Stockman then
spoke about the moral corruption in the city and managed to offend everyone, including his wife's adoptive
father Morten kiil, a tanner and his work is one of the most serious sources of water pollution. Morten Kiil
bought toiletries the next day and recommended that the doctor cancel the driver's service because he used
Kiil's plan to leave Ms. Stockmann and the children's money to do the shopping. Stockman rejected the
suggestion. He wanted to leave the city for the United States, but when Captain Horst was discharged from
the hospital for allowing Stockman to speak at home, he could not sail in Horst’s boat and decided to stay in
the city and educate him. Urchin of the city. Be quiet and train your children to be honest people. He said
that only the middle class opposed him, and the poor would continue to appeal to him. In his decision, his
young teacher daughter Petra, Mrs. Stockman and one of the children applauded him. Although Stockman is
not a particularly likable character, he is an excellent representative of the setbacks faced by reformers.

Peter Stockmann

Peter Stockman mayor, brother of Dr. Stockman. Peter Stockman is a typical civil servant who is
deliberately blind and would rather poison his city tourists than reduce their income. With the excuse of
caring about the city, I can draw other people to stand on my side. He destroyed his brother, but suggested
that if he gave up, he would restore his identity.

Hovstad

Hovstad, the editor of the People’s Messenger. At first, Hovstad supports Dr. Stockmann and plans to print
his article about the baths. When he learns that public opinion is against Stockmann, however, he deserts
him until he hears that Morten Kiil has bought up the bath stock. He then offers to support Stockmann again
because he thinks that Stockmann will cash in on the baths and he wants to be in on the deal. Hovstad starts
off as a forthright newspaperman and is a disappointment when he abruptly changes character and sides.

Aslaksen

Aslaksen, printer. Aslaksen was originally a volunteer supporter of Stockman's proposal to clean the
bathroom. As president of the Heads of Household Association, he promised to have the support of the
majority of the people in the city, but once the going got tough, when Dr. Stockman became more excited
than Aslaksen thought, he I would oppose the doctor. Together with Hovstad, he tried to cash in on the
profits that they thought Stockman wanted through Morten kiil.
Petra

Petra, daughter of Dr. Stockman and his wife. Petra is a serious young woman, she was the first to discover
Hovstad's hypocrisy. Teacher Petra refused to translate an English story printing for Hovstad, because her
theme is that supernatural powers take care of the so-called good people in the world, everything will
develop in the good direction, and all bad people will be punished; she did not Such a belief. When Hovstad
told her that she was providing readers with the story they wanted, Petra was upset. A few minutes later,
when he blurted out that the reason he supported Dr. Stockman was that he was Petra's father, Petra told him
that she had betrayed herself and would never believe him again. Because he supported his father, he lost his
job. Her employer told her that a former Stockman family guest revealed Petra's liberating mind. Petra is the
true daughter of her father.

Mrs. Stockmann

Mrs. Stockmann, the doctor’s wife and his loyal supporter. At first, she does not want her husband to go
against the wishes of his brother, but she soon gives her full approval. She is presented as a woman without
a strong personality.

Morten Kiil

Morten Kiil, a tanner, Mrs. Stockmann’s adoptive father. Although described by other characters as an “old
badger,” a man of wealth whose influence and money Dr. Stockmann hates to lose because of his wife and
children, Morten Kiil seems to live more by reputation than by representation in the play. He goes against
Dr. Stockmann and buys up all the bath stock with money he had intended to leave to Mrs. Stockmann.
